Julius Caesar conquered Gallia Belgica in 51 BCE. Roman Belgium comprised all of modern Belgium as well as part of northern France and the southern Netherlands and the Germany west of the Rhine. This map shows all the known Roman settlements (cities, towns, villas), as well as Roman castra (forts) and tumuli (tombs of notable people, especially generals).
