Cheers mate for you extensive post. I wasn't aware that the naming conventions had changed as 23andme gave me my haplogroup in that form. I thought the mutations may have been relevant in determining the subgroup but you managed to find out it is U106, so thanks for helping me out. :)
As for...
Hi there. I have recently received my results from 23andme but I have a few questions if anyone could help me out please. My results state that my Y Chromosome Haplogroup is R1b1b2a1a and my MtDNA Haplogroup is V.
I've been trying to find information about R1b1b2a1a but I haven't found much...
Having had a look over the Haplogroup maps I thought it was strange to note the 1-5% occurance of R1b-L21 in what appears to be Slovenia. Anyone know why this could be? Also, what about the reasonable occurance in Sicily?

Economic Left/Right: -3.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.44
Just took the test. First time i've ever been in the Left Libertarian section. I used to be over by Thatcher in the Right Authoritarian section but over the space of about a year and a half i've gradually got further and further...
Also I-M423 in Scotland? I presume that must have came over with the Gael invasions otherwise i have no idea. That must mean I-M423 arrived in Ireland before the 5th century when the Gaels expanded into what is now Scotland
As far as i'm aware there were no Viking or Gothic settlements in Western Ireland other than Limerick but that surely couldn't explain it, especially not the I-M423. Picture shows Viking settlements during the 10th century
If i'm not mistaken it's saying that there is I1 and I2 present in Western Ireland. Is this just from the pre R1b expansion into Ireland from the pre Indo-European settlers? I don't know of any Viking settlements that correspond to that area. Also, I-M423 is I2 is it not? How did that get there...
This would make sense from what i understand:

I just thought that its very unusual how much circumstantial evidence for this there is.
Interesting map, Maciamo. What particular reason is there for the low percentage of R1b-S21 in what appears to be central-east Germany? I was thinking Sorbs but they're further East than that are they not?
This was pre Germanic settlement in Scotland though. I thought maybe it had some relation to them being the "Painted people" too, but the records say that they painted themselves in blue [i believe].
Oh and i'm actually a Rangers fan, born and bred.
Also, i'm not sure what the general consensus was in the end after reading through this thread. Was it accepted that the Scythians aren't the ancestors of the Caledonians, and it is perhaps people from the Balkans (due R1a rates not matching), or could it just be that due to intermixing along...
