The I1 Haplogroup is, as has been noted, not common in Ireland, but it is believed to be very old there.
The Trinity College Dublin study of 2006, which discovered M222, also has I1 results. They list the HG as IxI1b2, so I am just assuming that this is still I1 as so many names have changed...
