Religion The Bible condones murder, rape and ignorance

Yeah, I abandoned Christianity for some of the same reasons. I also abandoned it because of the way some Christians behave. Like being hypocrites and self righteous. Since I live in the Midwest of the US it has it's share of Fundamentalist Christians. There's a famous shopping district in KC...

Comics The Smurfs turn 50 years old

Wow, I didn't know The Smurfs were that old, I watched them when I was real young. There weren't that many female smurfs, as a kid I had issues with that. :bluush:

Immigration Is the Swiss naturalisation system racist ?

How is the word "racist" being applied here? Just wondering, because reading the article it doesn't seem that the Swiss system is racist, even though I don't I don't know much about it. It doesn't come off as racist to me, maybe very strict though.

Immigration EU proposes "blue card" for skilled immigrants

I believe you're correct when you say that some Americans don't understand the grief that Europeans are feeling. But then, these complaints are coming mainly from Conservatives who think Mexicans are just coming to the US just steal "American" jobs. And they're not trying to learn English, but...

    How is France for you?

Aside from the stereotypes. Every time I think of France, for some reason I think of fashion. :o I never really held negative views towards like many Americans are taught, but there some things we could learn from them. I like French cuisine and wines (yeah that's another thing that comes...

What annoys you (about the news on TV) ?

Seems this thread is about how some journalists can't pronounce certain words correctly. :p Fox News or Fox Noise, that's what annoys me. I cannot stand that network, it really angers me when they claim they're "fair and balanced" because they're not, they're a right wing propaganda...

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you go ?

If I were fed up with life in Kansas City I would move in a heartbeat if I won the lottery. There's no upward mobility in KC, and I know that when I finish graduate school I'm leaving KC to find another job elsewhere. I would love to live in several parts of Europe, like Venice, Italy and...

    Literature Favourite Shakespeare

I'm taking a course that is dedicated entirely to Shakespeare. I just finished Richard III and I'm going to read Titus Andronicus. Richard III is now one of my favorite Shakespeare plays. :-)

Why did that headline say immigrant women are vunerable? :?

Catholic church vows to excommunicate abortion supporters

You're correct Maciamo, 1973 was the year abortion became legal in the US. But the mentality of anti-abortion people is that "Well women who get abortions are just irresponsible sluts who are taking the easy way out." Oh I'm going to look for some pro-life propaganda. :D Why doesn't the...

Catholic church vows to excommunicate abortion supporters

Restrictive laws or making it illegal has never stopped women from getting illegal abortions. But making it illegal only makes it more dangerous. Sadly, alot of anti-abortion people want abortion to be outlawed but don't want to push for policies (i.e. equal access to family planning services...

Immigration Immigrant women account for 40% of all abortions in Belgium

I wouldn't be too quick to blame this on immigrants. Are they getting fair access to family planning services? That could be a factor, and poverty plays a role too. But it's not surprising, abortion rates among minorites or immigrants are usually higher.

Catholic church vows to excommunicate abortion supporters

The Catholic church still can excommunicate people? Well there wasn't enough people to vote on that abortion law.

Society Children's well-being in Europe and North America

Not surprising that the US is down there. Kind of surprised that the UK is though. American students do poorly in school because teachers are not invested in students anymore and don't expect much from them it's really not that American kids are dumb. So that's one way the US is failing...

Wacky news 70% of Belgians have had sex in a car

I would have to agree with you about blow jobs and touching, if that's included as a sexual act then yes, it should be 70%. Unless of course Belgians are just.....hee nevermind. :bluush: :giggle: Anyways, sex in a car, not that unusual if you really think about it.
