I was reading somewhere (wish I could recall where) that there is a genuine y-dna divide in the Low Countries between Flemings and Walloons. Apparently that divide is primarily between U106 (on the Flemish side) and U152 (on the Walloon side).
Is that true?
If so, can someone give me a...
The article doesn't say whether any of the relatives tested were in Hitler's own y-dna line, but it seems likely, since the y haplogroup (E1b1b1) is mentioned.

FTDNA's R-L21 Plus Project is in the process of sponsoring the testing of six individuals of Spanish and Portuguese descent for L21. Thus far, one turned out to be L21-, but four of the six have already gone L21+. There is one still awaiting test results, but he is almost certain to be L21+...
As of this morning, here are some interesting statistics from FTDNA's Ancestral Origins database regarding men who have been y-dna tested to at least 12 STR markers.
British Isles Total = 53,261
Western Europe Total = 27,548
For Western Europe, I included the following countries:
Austria...
This report
http://download.journals.elsevierhealth.com/pdfs/journals/1875-1768/PIIS1875176809002340.pdf
indicates that what it calls R1b1b2* is the most frequent variety of R1b1b2 in every region of France studied, except Alsace, where U152 was the most frequent subclade.
The SNP L21, which...
We have a new R-L21* whose ancestor came from Flanders in Belgium: Vanover, kit 35171, Ysearch 4VHY9.
He's our first from Belgium of hopefully many many more.
Needless to say, I'm very happy. That helps start to fill in a gap in our data.
Belgium is grossly under represented in FTDNA's...
Recently two men with ancestry in old Bohemia in the Czech Republic have turned out to be L21+: Dvorak and Goblirsch.
Dvorak knows his ancestor came from Bohemia but is not sure of the town. Goblirsch's ancestor came from old Zemschen, which is modern Třemešné.
The R-L21 Plus Project began recruiting men of French ancestry for testing this past July, thanks to generous donations from project members. Central to the effort, and one of its chief financial backers, was an archaeologist who currently wishes to remain anonymous. Another person who deserves...
We have our first known R-L21* from Luxembourg: Conrardy (YSearch 6C3G6). His most distant y-dna ancestor came from Pratz and is on the R-L21* European Continent Map:

Conrardy inches us a bit closer to a geographic connection between our Rhenish German R-L21* guys...
I want to discuss the origin of L21, hopefully without heated controversy or lack of civility.
Some of us have mentioned French archaeologist and linguist Henri Hubert and his book (which was originally in two volumes), The History of the Celtic Peoples. If you don't have it yet, take my word...
Here is a list of the French R-L21* I know about thus far. It is not necessarily exhaustive. These are ancestral surnames and locations. Keep in mind that L21 is an SNP that was just discovered last October and that was not included in Family Tree DNA's Deep Clade-R test until late January of...
Family Tree DNA will be switching to SmartMatching soon. SmartMatching will eliminate so-called matches outside one's subclade from showing up on the Y-DNA Matches page.
In order to make the best use of SmartMatching, it is important that each man be fully tested for SNPs (Single Nucleotide...
Back in June or early July, I found an R-L21* haplotype cluster with the following off-modal marker values:
388=11
392=14
459b=9
464c=15
I would like to say I was the first to discover it, but when I wrote to a friend of mine who is associated with the Jewish R1b Project, she was already...
Here is a list of surnames and places of ancestral origin of the German and German-Swiss men I know about who are R-L21*. Once again, keep in mind that L21 is an SNP that was just discovered last October and that was not included in Family Tree DNA's Deep Clade-R test until late January of 2009...
