Not really appropriate conduct, but personal business, I'd say. Unless the personal relationship led her to manipulate the boy's marks. A 13-year-old usually knows or should know what he wants (at least I did at that age, & the guys around me as well).

Good question! I still think, it would depend on the situation: whether the girl was forced/coerced into that relationship, or not. The main problem I see is the teacher-pupil part of the relationship, not the age difference.

Regarding impregnating a girl: Here in Germany we learn about sexuality, contraception & sexual health before we actually become sexually active (that is, before puberty usually starts). Hence 13-year-olds know what they are up to.

BTW, when I was at that age, we had a very pretty female teacher in physical education. If she would have made any advances in my direction, I would have loved it. Sadly & luckily she did not.

The most surprising is that she seems quite beautiful (if that is the girl in the photo in the article). She could have found a guy quite easily. It's not like the Catholic priests who can't marry or have sex and try to abuse children secretly. I really wonder what she had in mind.

Statuatory rape is rape regardless of whether or not the victim enjoys it. In the US, 13 is well under the age of consent in all 50 states. The onset of puberty is also a non-issue.

Sadly this is not the only case right now in the states. There are at least three similar cases that I know of that have all happened within the last 5 years...and those are only the ones that made the headlines! All female teachers with young male students. One of the older cases resulted in the student eventually marrying the teacher (years later) and they had a child together.

something similar happened in Australia recently with a teacher was having sex with one of her students on a regular basis until the boy's mother caught on.

I agree, 100%! Male or female, a twenty-seven year old should not be having sex with a thirteen year old. The teacher is indeed beautiful, albeit absent to any intelligent thoughts.

I was told by some Japanese that it was quite common in Japan for highschool teachers to marry their former students after they graduate. It doesn't seem to bother too much the Japanese public. The explanation is that teachers have a "restricted social circle" and do not have the opportunity to find somebody their own age. Perverted ? No, in Japan that's quite ok compared to 60 year-old jiji who incite teen girls (sometimes as yound as 12 or 13) to have sex with them in exchange for brand clothes (=> the enjo kosai phenomemon, typical to Japan, and very widespread). Again, we could argue that Westerners feel bad about such relationships because of their Judeo-Christian values, which the Japanese lack.

This is a case of pedophila in my humble opinion, however there is a double standard in this country (the US) when it comes to a situation where an older female has sex with pre-teen boy. For some reason, people seem to feel sorry for the woman. To me, it's nothing more than a double standard.
