Maybe the Picts were actually Smurfs and that whole thread we were following something completely wrong!

Are you crazy
Grimbergen, Leffe, Chimay, Orval, Affligem, Kriek, etc...

I tried Leffe Blonde yesterday based on this and found it quite awful. It was like beer candy... faaaar too sweet. Are other types of Leffe better like Leffe Brune or do you actually find it good? I've also had Kriek before and find it decent but I'm not big into Lambic beers.

Until proven otherwise I'll concur with cycle and say that British ale is much better... I've had more luck with even their cheap mass-produced beers like Boddingtons and Newcastle, and then there's the even better craft brews like Wychwood's stuff, mmm...

Well, then don't believe everything what they write over here!

The best of Belgian beers isn't even mentioned.
Westmalle. Try that.
Trappist and Triple.. Both are very good.
And Corsendonk...

I never say Belgian beer is bad, it depends on the personal taste.
Yes, I know one that is awful.. Rodenbach.

And don't start about English ale again! Even a horse can do that better!

Real good tasting beer:

Well.. I have to tell you one more disgusting fact!
Belgians have a nasty habit of throwing lemonade syrup in their best Trappist beer!
They have the best beer in the world, and they spoil it!

And another thing..

Use the proper glass to pour it in!

It looks like a Grail.
That's to get more attention to the rich flavors.

The eleventh command of God:
"Thou shalt drink beer and wine out of a proper* glass!"

Pour the beer in very gently.
Tilt the glass enough to let the beer flow in gently, then move it more right up slowly.
Take your time.

* A double meaning in English and Dutch.

I have a store nearby that sells Westmalle Tripel. I'll make a point to pick it up sometime, it sounds good. It looks like it gets much better reviews online than Leffe Blonde, so that's positive. (Different kinds of beer, I know, but I'm just looking for anything good from Belgium).

At least when people put lime in a Corona it's not a good beer they're putting it in.

Ahh.. Give the bottles at least 8 hours to rest in the fridge. Tripel is good when cooled. 4-5 degrees or so.
Trappist you should give rest also, but maybe in a cellar. 8 degrees is fine.

In Belgium they even ask you if the beer should be served cold or medium!
In a good pub, that's for sure!

Again a good point for Belgium.

I just bought a bottle of Westmalle Tripel and had it this evening. It was excellent! The flavor was well balanced and complex, and it hid its strength just right. I will get it again. Thanks Reinaert!

Belgian art from a cultural standpoint, and who doesn't love "Belgian" fries, waffles, beer, and chocolate?.

I have added a new poll as the old one got deleted during the move from vBulletin to Xenforo.
