Finally, my fellow Danes seem to come to their senses! Everything seems to show that the Danes wil accept the euro, unlike last time in 2000, when it was rejected by a majority of Danish voters.

The financial crisis has made the Danes more favourably disposed to the euro. Especially the fact that the Danish Central Bank had to raise the interest rate to keep the Danish krone(which is pegged to the euro) strong, making it more expensive to borrow money.

The previous years, most Danes have lived happily without the euro. The economy has been strong, the unemployment rate record low (1.6 %!), and there has been large surpluses on the national budget and the trade balance. But now, the unemployment rate is rising (and may reach 4 %, which is high by Danish standards!), so most Danes see the advantages of being a part of the eurozone.

Hopefully, the Danes will use the euro in 2011 or 2012, and perhaps it can persuade the Swedes to join the eurozone as well...

That's good news indeed. Well, let us not count our chickens before they're hatched.
