    "Furries" in your Opinion...

Now, here is a subject that I think is somehow interesting and even shocking (at first) for people oblivious of the existance of this group of people.

We all know that there are alternative sexual preferences around, and that there is some searching of respect and pride among these groups (e.g. gays and lebians). Now, most of us see them as normal, and respect them... but I don't want to digress too much.

What if I tell you, that there is a group of people that feel sexual attraction towards cartoons, specially of funny animals? (e.g. Duchess fom Disney's "The Aristocats" animation, and the like?, or Tramp, or Pongo... ?!)

What if I tell you, that such people not only exists, but they make International Conventions with thousends of participants, that totalize a total economic movement of millions of dollars/euros in each Convention?

What if I tell you, that as we speak, they are churning out collectively tons of erotic and not material (some with good quality) in their genere, that, in fact, really contitute a very sizable percentage of art that is being created for sharing in the Internet?

Of course, maybe 5 or 6 of you already know about them, for the others, I guess that I have to provide some evidence of what I say...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_M80bxfdWWI

Well... however their conventions are not the "core" of the "Fandom" but the sharing of art in Internet...

There are hundreds of sites dedicated to Furry Art... with various degrees of explicity, from "hard porno" to "safe"...

I however, like to show you some of the art of these people, like for example, this German girl "TaniDaReal".

    This Russian girl, Oha

    http://oha.deviantart.com/gallery/

... and well, there are thousends. They suffice as examples.

    ++++++++++++++++

    So, finally...

Did you knew about the existance of this group of people, that now exists practically in any country? (from China to Israel).

What is your opinion about them?

    Regards.

    1. No, I didn't know about that group. But I'm not suprised about their existence either. Due to my studies at psychiatric and emergency wards I've met people who had sex with animals or fell in love with ghosts. So this sexual preference seems to be just a minor thing.

    2. I don't have an opinion about them because someone can't have an opinion about sexual preferences. There is a wide variance of likes, dislikes and habbits. For me, very personally, a preference would become sick if it either harms any other people or creatures, or if the social life of the person becomes unmanagable. I can't see either or in "Furries", so I just don't care!

    Thanks, @Mzungu... thank you.

In reality, what you say is a sensible and an perfectly non-judgmental attitude.

Well, your sensible answer encourage me to tell, here and now, that I am a furry.

Somtimes we feel it extrange to encounter people in the Net that doesn't know about us... so much rich and extense is our "world" and our "history" as a group, that sometimes we could not understand that in a randomly choosen forum in the internet (say, this) most people do not even yet heard about us...

    But so it is...

The world and the Net, is really a very big place.

    Regards.

Your "world" and "history" is probably as old as humanity!

I guess that ever since human creatures [hundres of thousands of years] were on the hunt they dressed up in the furs of bears, wolves and the game they had killed. For ritual purposes they might have worked, danced and even had sex in them. The link above says that "furries" want to overcome barriers of shyness and connect them to their animalistic side. Nothing else those pre-historic hunters did in order to gain strength for the hunt and for the entire group in order to survive.

    Cheers!

From a point of view I think it is just as your say, almost as old has humanity...

If you feel curiosity for this furry thing, I will tell you that there is a lot of activity near you, conventions and the like... they are easily available in Internet...

Well, @Mzungu, I enjoyed a lot to conversate to you in this and other topics of the forum... I think that you are a very honest and intelligent person.

I have to depart from the Forum for a time, to prepare for some examinations... hopefully we will meet again here in the future.

    Best Regards.

Well, thank you very much, Sirius2b!
    Same compliments back to you!

Mmh... I think I'm already fine with my furry slippers right now... But thanks anyway for all this information, it might become usefull for any reason some day again.

I'll be busy with exams very soon, too. Which means my activity on Eupedia then will be limited to very short visits and one line posts only. Hope to see you then again when it's all over.
