According to BusinessInsider, 14 out of the 20 cities with the fastest Internet connections in Europe are in Eastern Europe (Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania). The other five cities were Helsinki (which could also be considered Eastern European, although it is usually classified as Northern European), Stockholm, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Den Haag and Paris. Hamburg was the first non-Eastern city, ranking only 8th for download speed. The upload speed was not mentioned, but the German average (2 Mbps) is very far below those found in the former Communist bloc (e.g. 28.5 Mbps in Vilnius).
