What music are you listening to?

2 less known istrument that comes from antique

1. Κανων/κανονακι Qanun Canun

hqdefault.jpg

Κανονακι comes is evolution of Pythagoras monochordon,

the father of Qanun and Santour is considered Pythagoras,
kanon has 79 points/places and kanonaki (small) has less
modern long tail and Piano are based in the form of kanon and santouri more than in the piano of Cristofori of Padua

Kanon today is very famous at West Turkey and Arab countries,
Kanon was one of the most favourite instruments in Brygia and Smyrna before 1922

only from the sound and play you can realize its dynamic and relativity
the difference is that is played as a string organ with fingers than with mechanic hits as piano

and a video in Turkish

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rb7wIep6xLg

Both Kanon and Santour are evolution of ψαλτηριον which is evolution of epigonion of Pythagoras

2. Santour Santuri

Santour is the evolution of Kanon by Iranians and is developed at Persia with 100 points, while the older Greek form has 75,
its homeland is considered Persia.
Santour means 100 chordes in Iranian, but strangely the inner terms kept their mathematic etymology of Kanon (pythagoreian terms) like 'Kharak' and 'Poshte kharak' (Χαραξ, οπισθεν χαραξ)
Santour is very popular at Iranic world, and is played from Greece to India to China.
it is like piano of the West in some areas.

at the video is Makedonian rythm of Makelaris dance which passed to Con/polis Tatavla (kurtulus) as hasapiko and today is known as 'Syrtaki'
the atmospheric sounds of Byzantine empire on a Makedonian war dance via an old instrument that was evoluted by Persians.

Santour was almost extinguist at Greece at 1950's-60's when Greece turn to western instruments,
but survived thanks to a great teacher A Moschos/Moshos
Aristeides Moschos was also considered as an elite santour player world wide,

PS
lately some deny that the etymology Santour is Iranian origin,
and consider it as Latin,
both Kanon and Santour comes from ψαλτεριον the east monastic organ/instrument (compare the pipe organ of the West)
ψαλτηριον (psalterion) in Latin/Italian would be something like Cantor Chantor

a ψαλτηριον was not allowed at Liturgy

@Yetos maybe it would be nice for a proper thread for greek music. There many genres of it and someone could find something interesting.
Nice psarantonis. Φιλιά ρε μπαγάσα!

Lyrics:

[Chorus]
Look into my eyes, can't you see they're open wide?
Would I lie to you, baby, would I lie to you? Oh yeah
Don't you know it's true, girl, there's no one else but you
Would I lie to you? Baby, yeah
Look into my eyes, can't you see they're open wide?
Would I lie to you, baby, would I lie to you? Oh yeah

Why "The Boss" is at a big Clinton rally in Philadelphia I have no idea...much less Jon Bon Jovi, but hey I've always liked him. (Given the voters they're trying to get out I think they should have brought JayZee back, although given his filth misogynistic songs and the fact they're running ads about Trump's filthy misogyny, perhaps they belatedly realized that was a risky move.)

One of his best songs...Glory Days...

This is how homeless people play on polish streets. Mariusz Goli.
I'm not sure but this piece might be his composition. I love it, moves me to tears.

Today this song is the most popular song in Europe (+ Russia) and maybe also in the States. Most of the time I don't like (commercial/) mainstream, but I just love this song, this is great.

"Ooh love"
No one's ever gonna hurt you, love

Yeah the hyrule castle theme! This is the theme that plays when Ganon's knights take over Hyrule Castle and you as the Hero must lead the Princess to safety! This means a lot to me bc a) you got to rescue a princess and b) lead her out of the dungeon and protect her! As a male this was an awesome experience! We males love the "feeling" of being responsible for the safety of women and I would've loved the opportunity to risk death for a princess and have her weep for me in case I succumb to a mortal stab wound!

Nella Fantasia. Music by Ennio Morricone, Lyrics Chiara Ferraù Sung by Sarah Brightman.

Nella fantasia io vedo un mondo giusto,
Lì tutti vivono in pace e in onestà.
Io sogno d'anime che sono sempre libere,
Come le nuvole che volano,
Pien' d'umanità in fondo all'anima.

In my fantasy I see a just world
Where all live in peace and honesty
I dream of souls that are always free
Like clouds that soar
Full of humanity in the depths of the soul.

Nella fantasia io vedo un mondo chiaro
Lì anche la notte è meno oscura.
Io sogno d'anime che sono sempre libere,
Come le nuvole che volano.
Pien' d'umanità.

In my fantasy I see a bright world
Where even night there is less darkness
I dream of souls that are always free
Like clouds that soar
Full of humanity.

Nella fantasia esiste un vento caldo,
Che soffia sulle città, come amico.
Io sogno d'anime che sono sempre libere,
Come le nuvole che volano,
Pien' d'umanità in fondo all'anima.

In my fantasy exists a warming wind
That breathes into the city, like a friend
I dream of souls that are always free
Like clouds that soar
Full of humanity in the depths of the soul.

well

it is very freezy in Europe last days,
in my town reach -11 C and in the village -17 C.
and water pipes are broken, so no water

so I remember something to warm spirit and mind

Longing for the sun ...
