I checked the regions of birth of her 16 great-grandparents:

West Prussia - 5 (Steinbach, Liebenau, Kopiske, Hedke, Lück)
Pomerania - 4 (Zimmermann, Voss, Hasse, Hass)
Provinz Posen - 3 (Eichstädt, Neumann, Schulz)
East Prussia - 2 (Scheffler, Gnoss)
Sachsen - 1 (Schmeisser)
Thüringen - 1 (Feustel)

Could German speaking Prussians be mostly Baltic and Slavic?

I'd like to see mainland Germans(inlcu. Austria, Switzerland) tested more. It's too big to be uniform. "West Germans" cluster close to East French, some Swiss cluster close to North Italy, Austria cluster close to Hungary. At the same time most "German" results are more or less the same, and Y DNA suggests shared heritage.

Could German speaking Prussians be mostly Baltic and Slavic?

Her GEDmatch results are very similar to mine. And they look mostly Slavic.

Only Scheffler and Gnoss (from East Prussia) could be Baltic-descended.

Here birthplaces of her 16 ancestors (2 were Non-Prussian East Germans):

I ran her kit through Eurogenes K36 so I could use a PCA, she lands in the southern tip of Saxony-Anhalt bordering Thuringia

Image didnt show for some reason, lets see if it works now. If not I posted a link

Info about his genealogical ancestry (family tree):

Another Austrian in DNA Land (he has ancestry from Carinthia and Styria):

Austrian.png

I asked him whether he is ethnically Slovene (part of Carinthian Slovenes):

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carinthian_Slovenes

But he replied that he is German and not aware of any recent Slavic ancestry:

"No, I'm not a Carinthian Slovene. I sure turn out very Slavic in these tests and I very likely have a lot of (Alpine) Slavic ancestry further back. But I do not speak Slovene or any Slovene local Carinthian dialect nor do I have any known ancestors with Slovene surnames. Koroških just means Carinthian in slovene language, could be ethnic German or ethnic Slovene. And all my known ancestors are German-speakers from Carinthia and Styria."

I don't know his GEDmatch kit but I will ask him about his Eurogenes K13 results.

Here his puntDNAL K15 results (seems to be a "typical Austrian" based on this):

Could German speaking Prussians be mostly Baltic and Slavic?

This German has more "Baltic" than "North Atlantic" in Eurogenes K13:

1 Baltic 40.43
2 North_Atlantic 37.01

More "Baltic" than "North Atlantic" indicates vastly Slavic-Baltic descent.

Even though only 1 of her 16 g-g-grandparents had a Slavic surname.

================

As Konrad Adenauer said:

"I still vividly remember the day one of my schoolmates told me: we Rhinelanders are the true Germans. The Prussians are Slavs, Obotrites, Wends, and the like who put together their state by theft and violence."

Another Austrian in DNA Land (he has ancestry from Carinthia and Styria):

I suspect my Prussian ancestor who gave me U5b2a2b1 was genetically like that German Prussian. U5b2a2 is most typical of Poles. I also suspect her Swiss husband was North Italian-like. They were an ethnically German couple but they may have come from two opposite genetic spectrums of mainland Germans, one Polish-like and one Italian-like.

No surprise, steirmark and Corinthia are the most Slavic regions in Austria. Steirmark is around 40℅ R1a and everyone I've met from Corinthia has known Slovene Ancestry so I'm surprised he doesn't , but I'm sure it's there. I'd be curious to see some more gedmatch results like his dodecad and some eurogenes results. DNA land doesn't seem to be too accurate. My family all pops up with different populations in us, so they need to do some work.

The women's results are interesting , everyone with German background from Poland seems to be ethnically Slavic and not German. I shared a women who's two grandparents were ethnic Germans from South East Poland and other two were polish and Ruthenian. She scored 27 percent Eastern euro and 42 percent western euro on dedecad v3. Clearly not German.

If you can find pure east Germans it would be interesting to see how they compare to , Eastern European Germans.

Below is a comparison of Prussian German and Prussian Polish (my) results in Eurogenes K36.

But the Prussian German has geographically more diverse and more northern origins than me.

This map shows areas where 16 great-great-grandparents of the Prussian German were born:

http://www.eupedia.com/forum/thread...Dmatch-results?p=503210&viewfull=1#post503210

10/16 of her g-g-grandparents are from the borderlands of West Prussia, Pommern & Posen:

I checked the regions of birth of her 16 great-grandparents (surnames):

East Prussia - 2 (Scheffler, Gnoss)
Sachsen - 1 (Schmeisser)
Thüringen - 1 (Feustel)
