Introduction

A place where time seems to have stopped many centuries ago, Beynac-et-Cazenac (pop. 500) is the typical picture postcard view of the quintessential Dordogne Valley village. Beynac is dominated by its limestone castle, which dates back to the 12th century and remained in private hands until 1961.

Listed as one of the most beautiful villages of France, Beynac-et-Cazenac came in 7th position in the nationwide poll Le villlage préféré des Français on France 2.
