France has long been leading Europe in terms of train technologies with its TGV. Europe's two most famous TGV, the Eurostar (Paris-London-Brussels), and the Thalys (Paris-Brussels-Amsterdam-Cologne) both pass through Belgium. The Thalys stops in Liege on its way from Brussels to Cologne, and in Antwerp on its way from Brussels to Amsterdam. Like in England, the TGV tracks in most of Belgium were still ordinary tracks. This age will soon be over, as most of the tracks have already been replaced to TGV ones, enabling them to reach 300kmph instead of about 180kmph prior to the works.

More information on this site. Take a look at the new, ultra-modern Liege TGV station as your are at it.

It looks amazing. I hope to see more such stations following in Europe for better interconnectivity. I hope Italy also does something to improve their railway as they have many problems with it. Seeing projects like these rise up will allow for better and quicker transportation in Europe. The bridge connecting Sicily to the mainland in Italy is one such example
