BBC News : Shell reports record UK profits

BBC said:
Soaring oil prices in 2005 have helped Royal Dutch Shell report a record annual profit for a UK-listed company.

The Anglo-Dutch energy giant generated profits of $22.94bn (??13.12bn) - up nearly a third on last year when it set a UK record with profits of $17.59bn.

What surprises me is that the war in Iraq ends up benefitting more European companies than American ones. Out of the 4 largest oil corporations in the world (ExxonMobil, BP, Royal Dutch Shell, and Total), only 1 is American (ExxonMobil, known under the brand 'Esso' in Europe and Japan), while the 3 others are European (British, Anglo-Dutch and French, respectively).

I think Exxon-Mobile posted a $35 billion profit for 2005! As we all have no choice in the matter we all pay what they want us to pay or we cannot get to work or deliver goods and services and the economy fails. If they charged US$5.00/gallon everyone would be forced to pay or risk losing their job. "They" are just getting as much as they can right now and everyone is bending over and grabbing their ankles.

This is nothing but Standard Oil of the 1930's.
