BBC News : Shell reports record UK profits (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/4672716.stm)
Soaring oil prices in 2005 have helped Royal Dutch Shell report a record annual profit for a UK-listed company.
The Anglo-Dutch energy giant generated profits of $22.94bn (13.12bn) - up nearly a third on last year when it set a UK record with profits of $17.59bn.
What surprises me is that the war in Iraq ends up benefitting more European companies than American ones. Out of the 4 largest oil corporations in the world (ExxonMobil, BP, Royal Dutch Shell, and Total), only 1 is American (ExxonMobil, known under the brand 'Esso' in Europe and Japan), while the 3 others are European (British, Anglo-Dutch and French, respectively).
