Euronews : Belgium makes history by banning cluster bombs (http://www.euronews.net/create_html.php?page=detail_info&article=343653&lng=1)

Belgium has become the first country in the world to outlaw cluster bombs. Parliamentarians approved a bill forbidding the production, storage, use and trade in these arms.

Cluster bombs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cluster_bomb), along with landmines, are responsible for tens of thousands of civilian casualties each year. The Red Cross, the United Nations and other organisations are strongly opposed to the use of such weapons, and Belgium became the world's first country yesterday to ban them. Let's hope that other countries follow.
