What is, in your opinion, the 10 adjectives that best qualify the national character of the Belgian people. This may be difficult as the country really has two cultures: that of the French speakers and that of the Dutch speakers. However it has been said many times that both share some undeniable common traits that distinguish them from their Dutch and French counterparts.

If you are not Belgian, I want it to be based on your own experiences and compared to the people in your own country.

If you are Belgian, try to think of the difference you have experienced with people in other cultures, and what best defines Belgianness.

Here is my list :

- careful (sometimes to the point of mistrust)
- liberal (regarding personal liberties)
- independent-minded (not easily influenced)
- raleur (like to complain)
- outspoken (will call a cat a cat)
- humorous (often sarcastic)
- having classical/sober tastes (for clothing, architecture, decoration... as opposed to eccentric or overly stylish)
- moody (cheerful to surly depending on the weather)
- civil, well-mannered (not exactly 'polite' because of the liberal use of swear words, and not exactly 'respectful' because of the outspokenness)
- "bon vivant" (like eating and drinking well, laughing, parties between friends...)
