The infamous Berlin Wall fell just 18 years ago today. It was torn down, except for a 1km section, which was preserved as a memorial and decorated with paintings of famous artists. But the low-quality concrete wall does not resist the test of time. Holes have started to appear, and amidst fears that it might collapse or that the paintings get too damaged, the EU has unblocked 2 million euro for its restoration. However, only 1 Berliner out of 4 approves this move, as the wall remains for them nothing more than a bad memory.
