The tragedy occurred on Jan. 23 at his home in Melbourne and with it, has reopened the debate on natural childbirth at home. Lovell had made every preparation to give birth to her daughter, but a complication during childbirth made her heart stop.
When doctors arrived home Lovell was already very serious. She had two daughters, Lulu of three years and the newborn, Zahra, and her husband Nick.
One of the midwives who attended Lovell said the cause of death could have been bleeding, but the facts are still being investigated.
The woman had spent half his life asutraliano pressing the government to get state aid for women who wanted their children at home. "Life will be in danger without the help of midwives appropriate by the state," said one of his letters addressed to the Government.
"Personally, I am very surprised and ashamed that home birth is not a free choice of the woman who wants to give birth in their environment." he added.
Since 2009 made several complaints and wrote many more letters to the Australian Executive to request that midwives who attend home births were regulated, financed and have legal protection, as in other countries.
