A few weeks ago, France 2, the leading public TV channel in France, held a special programme called Le village préféré des Français (http://programmes.france2.fr/le-village-prefere-des-francais/?page=accueil) (The favourite village of French people). The audience was asked to elect their favourite village in each of France's 22 regions. The villages were then ranked against each others, in a nationwide top 22 most beautiful villages. 66,000 people voted. Here is the final ranking:

Thanks for listing, Maciamo, I will keep that in mind when I next travel to France. I had the opportunity to see St Cirq from the Lot, as I went down on a kayak, the view is stunning, no wonder it's a favourite in France. I visited Beynac, it's an amazing place. The castle, where Luc Besson's "Joan of Arc " was shot, was well worth the trip.
