View Full Version : Can you find your ethnicity with your toe?
I drop to a site accidentally.
ot is about art and Anthropometrics
It is called Morton's toe or Greek feet
the photo bellow explains all
http://a.media.newsbomb.gr/items/cache/d0b08b40c283e283fd4fa1287f36b28f_XL.jpg
1) majority of people have the first type its name also normal feet
2) is less common than first
3) the 3rd type is found from ancient times in ancient Greek sculptures at almost 95% and less in Roman-Latin BUT EXIST IN EVERY COPY OF GREEK STATUE !!!! but in other culture. that means ancient Greeks knew a genetic secret or they just copy what they see,
the author insist that this is a gennetic anomaly or mutation and not a bone structure anomaly (a bad form)
If morton's toe is a cleronomical genetic mutation then probably except nose is the second anthropometric characteristic we find.
Statistics prove that Greeks have significant Morton's toe than other populations
second comes the Roman type !!!
and finnaly normal.
does anyone know if it is connected with DNA ?
maybe an exclusive mark? or majority of Greeks suffer from bad bone structure?
Gentlemen search your feet.
I DID
Roman here. However, I have a Greek nose...hmmm.
Clearly, I'm a Trojan.
Egyptian. My cousin has the Greek foot and he's full Syrian christian.
by the toe test, clearly roman for me
plus flat feet, indicating close to the sea ie water and not a mountaineer
Definitely more like no. 2 Roman than no. 1 Egyptian. I don't know of any Italian ancestry, though.
I am definitely not Roman but I have No. 2. The kind of shoes should also be considered. With pointy shoes in vogue more fashionable people might end up with No. 3.
Sorry, I checked my toes and it is No. 3. So I am Greek. lol.
I personally don't think the arch of your toes has anything to do with a nationality considering most nations are an amalgamy of different haplogroups, sort of a nonsense thread lol
100% of neanderthal footprints have greek toe. 100% of every other fossil footprint has egyptian toe. Roman toe is in between. It's a multigenic trait so that makes sense.

I have the greek one. kind of interesting but im sure this has nothing to do with ethnicity.
My feet seem to resemble the Roman. I'm from Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry.
so, i'm greek
but i'm sure there should be many more options than those 3
btw me being Greek, it's probably due to a soccer accident i've had in my younger days
these three foot types are the bases of all humanity? who needs dna with such anolgies? :).....now for the results - mine is Greek :)
Nice to see some hard science on this forum. LOL. But what are Celts, Germans or Slavs supposed to do with this info?
I'm Egyptian, but my daughter and husband have Greek feet. Quite interesting

Feel free to do so.
there is only 1 god, all religions pray to one same God...........if anyone changes religion they end up praying to the same God, which means by changing religion they have no faith, they are not religious . they are after some form of a club, a gang mentality ...stupid.
If there is more than one God....then the ancient greeks, romans, Egyptians, nordic etc have always been correct and we others are fools to the propaganda of modern religions..................take your pick!

It is manifestly untrue that all religions believe in one God. That is only true for the believers in the monotheistic religions that developed in the Middle East: Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
Just as one example, has it escaped the attention of some readers that there are some 950 million Hindus in the world, just to use one estimate, not to mention the Buddhists etc. etc.?
I also think some humor would be in order here. Does anyone really think that ethnicity could be determined in this way or that anyone would seriously propose that?
Oh, to get back on topic: Roman toes, Greek nose, Celtic fringe skin, CM jaw, EEF hair and eyes...
Hey, wait a minute....

Gentlemen search your feet.
I DID  Yetos Some here are saying it is silly. I do not. Greek foot is a dominant trait controlled by DNA. It is also called Scottish toe (per a racist forum I chanced upon). So, what connects the Greeks and the Scots? How about R1b Y DNA? It is also called Royal Toe. What Y DNA is prominent in European royalty? R1b DNA.
I have Greek toe as do several of my cousins. I was told by one that Greek toe in Greece is often cited as descent from royalty as a kind of tourist patter. Southern Greece has some 28% R1b Y DNA. So, it is likely linked to one or a tight few DNA sources, spread as a dominant trait to other Y DNA and mt DNA.
I think those that poo-poohed your post are targeting you rather than using their heads. How else does a dominant gene get transmitted widely (among many other DNA), but is prevalent trait among a certain Y DNA population?
Nobody is making fun of Yetos. Teasing is different from ridiculing. However, to think you can tell y lineage from toes is indeed silly.
The majority of people in Greece are NOT R1b, yet virtually every Greek statue or copy of a Greek statue I've ever seen either has "Greek" or "Roman" toes, long toes anyway. I think it's like the absolutely parallel to the forehead version of the Greek nose: I just think it's what they thought was beautiful.
The majority of people in Britain ARE R1b, and yet I read somewhere that the majority of their feet are either Celtic or "Egyptian".

Upon careful reconsideration of this important topic, I previously made an error: I think I have Greek toes as well as a modified Greek nose.:) Strictly a coincidence, I assure you.

9471 I stand by what I wrote. Here is what Yetos' asked 'does anyone know if it is connected with DNA ?
maybe an exclusive mark? or majority of Greeks suffer from bad bone structure' Your comment reinforces my observation of his treatment.

I broke my toe playing soccer and didn't bother to go to the doctor to mend it properly.
I used to have Egyptian feet, now I have 1 Egyptian and 1 Roman.
Roman toes, and a Roman nose
I match the Roman on the 1st picture. Not exact match on the 2nd.
[emoji2]
Well I am Egyptian, leaning toward Roman. I break my toes frequently and was told by a doctor that I have mutant feet because the two toes closest to my big toe have 2 joints instead of 1.

I'm trying to picture it. :)
Lucky you didn't break anything else. No matter what Americans think, soccer is no game for sissies. Those headers are very dangerous, for one thing. I'm sure cycling stresses the body as well.
Any sustained physical activity can be dangerous, of course. I broke my nose on a ballet barre because some idiot girl fell into me just as I was coming up from a grand plie. It happens. My ankles were sprained so many times once I went on pointe that I finally had to give up.
I console myself by thinking of ugly ballerina calves, feet and toes. :)

It's really no joking matter. Some of the pictures are so disturbing I won't even link to them.
Still, at the time I was so obsessed that I would have given anything to continue.
@Wheal,
Your doctor has a great bedside manner! :) I swear that a lot of them are on the autism spectrum.
Scot and Celtic...#3 is my look!

Hey I got Egyptian too!! *high five!!*

I break my toes frequently and was told by a doctor that I have mutant feet because the two toes closest to my big toe have 2 joints instead of 1.In fact, I don't know if mine is Roman toward Egyptian or Egyptian toward Roman. :) They look like Roman in a first look, but the big toes are a little longer than index toes.
I have Greek toe, these are very thin... I got a 42 size and 1.77 in heigh.

Be happy with your feet.
Alas, I'm very shallow. I love my feet, but I would not love my feet if I had broad feet with short, stubby toes, even if it did make wearing certain shoes less painful. :)
Speaking of which...
Ah, well, my nonna always said you had to suffer to be beautiful...

I have ..
first 2 toes Roman, next 3 Celtic..............with a slight webbing between the roman and celtic only on the left foot........but this could be a family trait as my grandfather, my father, myself , my sons and now grandson has this ................flat feet or not does not follow our family line.

Yes, Classical Era statues have feet where either the second toe is slightly longer than the first or they're the same size. I probably first noticed it because of my own feet.
23andme gets it slightly wrong for me. My second toe is indeed a tiny bit longer than my first, not like Morton's toe or anything. We must have the same set of alleles for this.

My second toe is not significantly longer, and the way they curl makes it almost appear as though the Big toe is longer or the same length. But when I press them flat, the second toe is indeed longer.

"Greek" feet are actually assimilated Doric & Illyrian feet.
I have that foot type and I'm not Greek.
Of course they are: EVERYTHING worth having came from the Albanians and their ancestors!
Do you have epic battles with the "Mad Serb" who thinks everything great came from Serbia. I'd pay to see it.

Hehe, we might throw a few Greeks into the ring also :).
My folks have done nothing really remarkable. But they did survive and boy they did! First the Persians on the way to Greece, then the Celts, the Macedonians under Alexander, the Romans, the Avars, the Vandals, The Ostrogoths, the Bulgarians, the Slavs, the Crusaders, the Seljuk Turks, the Ottoman Turks, the Balkan Wars, WWI, The aftermath of WWI and the exchange of populations between Greece and Turkey. Then WWII and the Greek Civil War. Not to mention the different plagues and endemic malaria and of course inbreeding.
Let me pat myself in the back for my ancestors accomplishments but I am afraid I might pull a muscle or something. :)
Comparing your feet to feet on old greek statues, is similar to comparing your face to royal faces on English stamps.
Jensen,
It was supposed to be funny.
Sometimes we just fool around. :)
OK, Nice. Im new and didnt understand.
My sister's third toe is the longest on her foot. Sadly, at least one of her children has inherited this unfortunate malformation. I attribute it to fallout from Three Mile Island, which occurred twenty months before she was born, and we are downwind from the site, and also one of her friends born around the same time suffers from 'Missy Foot', which is what I call the condition.
OK, Nice. Im new and didnt understand.
No problem. When you get to know the "crowd", you'll know which ones just have a sense of humor, and, unfortunately, which ones just don't know what they're talking about.
