I've just got the results of a FTDNA Deep Clade test and it's not telling me as much as I expected. The results are summarised as:

Your Haplogroup: R1b1a2a1a1a4

Tests Taken: L48+ L150+ L47- L44- L4- L325- L257- L217- L21- L20- L2- L196- L193- L188- L176.2- L164- L148- L1-

I was expecting something about Z9 and Z10 as I thought that's how L48+/L47-would then be explored. Am I misunderstanding L48 or am I misunderstanding the Deep Clade test? Or am I simply looking in the wrong place for my results?

They have not updated it for over a year now - z9/z10 are not part of the deepclade test yet. However you might try te become a member of the U106 project. They have spreadsheets of subclades modals so they can guide you through it with a testing strategy.

for some advice post on their forum: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/R1b1c_U106-S21/

Unless you want to wait for ftdna to include it into the deepclade test you can simply order the SNP's manually by the way. Log into ftdna and click on or copy this url: https://www.familytreedna.com/order-form.aspx?ot=ADV

select SNP from test type window.
Next type z9 or z10 in the "input bar", click find and the SNP will appear.
