According History Roxane and Alexander junior (4rth) were in Amphipolis,

today the archaiologists found a tomb bigger than king Phillip B, estimated at 500 meters perimeter, the Biggest Makedonian tomp ever found, all the rumors speak about the tomp of Roxane and Alexander junior,
if we are lucky then we might have matterial to find Great Alexander's DNA,

the truth is to wait the unexpected, since such big tomps we are not used by ancient Greeks,

Alexander the Great was tutored by Aristotle to bring Greek culture to the world. Alexander wanted to fuse Greek culture to the Persians so he had his soldiers take Persian wives. So one can see how this would have on the genetics of Persia. I am not sure if the Greeks soldiers took their wives back to Greece when they retired. This could also explain Greek genetics if they did. The commanders who took over Alexander's empire sent all the Greek dissenters to the far reaches of the empire just like the British did to small-time criminals to Australia. The British also packed America by giving money and a gun to troublesome, mostly, Celts and said "Go west, young man (and whispered don't come back)". The disgruntled never felt happy and did not try to maintain the Greek Empire so it fell.

The amount of Alexander's commanders which took persian wifes is negligible to have a genetic impact to both the Ancient Greek and Persian population. And after Alexander's death the Greek commanders refused to continue this practice. What could have had an impact though was settlements and colonisations of Greeks all over Alexander's empire. Yet, save for a few regions (like Alexandria, Egypt) I don't think the Greeks have left a notable genetic signature in other regions. Ofcourse, I don't include the Greek colonies prior to Alexander.

And as for all the Macedonians who had already married Asian women, Alexander ordered a list of their names to be drawn up; they numbered over 10,000, and Alexander offered them all gifts their wedding.

10,000 is a large number considering his combined Greek and Macedonian army numbered only 30,000. The world population was 10 million.

You have to remember. Alexanders soldiers were also Thracians and Illyrians.

Yes tribes or empires would be composed of many allies. There was no way to check DNA in those days. But in those days people did not venture very far from home so the wide world was strange and fearful. There was no concept of race as everyone expected monsters outside their own neighbourhoods.

what we need is to find Alexander's son's corpse. lets hope not burned,

by that and with Roxane corpse, we may get % of Alexander's DNA.

lets hope about that.

the truth is that the excavations, are running very slowly, due to economical crisis, and all are done with brush, no sovel used,
a mountain of soil must be excavated with brush, with vey few workers.

for the past 10 years, there has been speculation that the body in St Marks Venice is not of St. Mark but of Alexander the Great. They say that the venetian merchants stole the wrong body from Alexandria.

There is around 300 years difference between st. Mark and Alexander, so its an easy test. Problem is that the Catholic Church ( Vatican) till now has refused all scientific requestors to do this testing.
