Hello everyone,

I've read this site for several years but this will be my first post and appreciate your responses.

Does anyone know anything about these two markers DYS490=10 and DYS534=16?
It appears from reading various blogs that SRY-2627 can be divided into two groups:
1) =12, =15 SRY-2627 group (apparently similar to other clades including the African R1b)
2) =10, =16 SRY-2627 group (obviously my group)

I've read some speculate that the 10,16 group may be a subclade of 2627. Any thoughts on this?
I've also read some speculate that Tutankamun was 2627+. I realize there continues to be a considerable amount of debate on the discovery channel leak and have read arguments on both sides of the matter, including those on this forum. Does anyone know what the 490/534 results 'supposedly' yielded from his body?
Would it be correct to assume that 10/16 is downstream of 12/15? Younger?
Thanks,

DYS534 is a fairly fast moving STR so I wouldn't rely on it too much.

DYS490, on the other hand is quite slow, and particularly the value 490=10 (2 off the P312 modal) is rare. It won't make ISOGG because it is not an SNP, but I think SRY2627+ 490=10 does define a subclade of SRY2627 (M167).

Is it possible to approximate a mututation from P312 modal such as this?
Given the estimated age of 2627, would it seem probable to have mutated in the historical era?

Mike -

Geno 2.0 results that recently came to my attention suggest, pending confirmation, that DYS490 = 10 members of Family Tree DNA's SRY2627+ haplogroup project have the derived (mutated) form of SNP Z205 and DYS490= 12 members of that project have the ancestral form of Z205.
