Reading information on the ancient river the OXUS by Greek historians, I found that it begins in tajikstan, uzbekistan, north pakistan and chinese border areas, the river in ancient times ran to the ARAL sea, then to the CASPIAN sea and then to the BLACK sea. Historians have said the indo-europeans began there journey into europe from here, as per NATGeno and FTDNA sites to name two.
The most ancient people are the Wakhi people, who have green, blue, grey and hazel colured eyes in majority , have "european" features with about 10% mongoliad

Ossetic is among the remnants of the Scytho-Sarmatian dialect group which was once spoken across Central Asia. Other surviving languages closely related to Ossetic are Yaghnobi,[21] Pashto[21] and Pamiri languages,[21] all spoken more than 2,000 km to the east in Afghanistan, northwestern Pakistan and some parts of Tajikistan.

Ossetian and pamir/wakhi language belong to this

Today Ossetians are, I think, the result of the mixing of genuine Caucasus (almost) autochtones with the Alani or Alans, considered as a sarmatian branch, so akin too to the Scythians, and, I think, dominantly Y-R1a (for males!) -
the quality of the Y-G2a of Caucasians don't evoque the other Y-G of South Asia and are closer to the Y-G2a of neolithical Europe even if not identical today - so I doubt the Ossetian populations are pure descendants of Alani, only partly - and the Alani were supposed to be the male dominant elite, when we see how low is R1a there, so... linguists say apart from the I-Ean iranic basis, today ossetian language is full of non-I-E words, even grammar would be affected, according to someones (but I now all problems of ethnic origin are complicated in Balkans and Caucasus...)

Strabo mentions that the Sarmatians were called Caucasii. This indicates that they lived in the Caucasus already before the Hunnic expansion.

Did the sarmatians really reach the Crimea or was it the Scythians...these are different people , although some say they are the same.
