As the 29th of May approaches, plans by the Turkish government are made to make Agia Sophia, the most glorious church of Christendom, a mosque once again.

What UNESCO has to say about this?

Should we let this molesting take place?

I was surprised to read here that Agia Sophia is a church.
It is not, it is a museum :

Hagia Sophia (from the Greek: Ἁγία Σοφία, "Holy Wisdom"; Latin: Sancta Sophia or Sancta Sapientia; Turkish: Ayasofya) is a former Greek Orthodox patriarchal basilica (church), later an imperial mosque, and now a museum in Istanbul, Turkey. From the date of its construction in 537 until 1453, it served as an Eastern Orthodox cathedral and seat of the Patriarchate of Constantinople,[1] except between 1204 and 1261, when it was converted to a Roman Catholic cathedral under the Latin Empire. The building was a mosque from 29 May 1453 until 1931. It was then secularized and opened as a museum on 1 February 1935.[2]

I think it should remain with the status it has now. It would be stupid to change it, and a very bad sign.

We know what Agia Sophia is. There is not need to post redundant info.

Do museums look like churches? Of course not.

it is not a church, it is not a mosque
it is a historic monument
no religious ceremonies have been held inside since 1931
and it should stay that way

How can you say that? Everybody in the world knows that Agia Sophia is a church!

Why should it stay w/o Christian ceremonies?

Because only one of the sides would feel satisfied if it became a mosque or a church again. For the Greek orthodox it is an outrage if it became a mosque again and for the sonnies it would be an outrage if it became church again. So a museum status is not that bad, nobody is really happy or serious offended, status quo.
