As the Flagmaker of Haplogroups, I solemnly request your opinion.

As some of you may have known, I make flags for mitochondrial haplogroups. I post them both on my blog and on my deviantart.

Some thoughts:

I5: I like this one the best of the 4 you posted here, but I don't recognize the symbol, what is it? It may look nicer if the gray was darker.
L: Good symbolism, but I don't like the black on pink. Try to stick to the Rule of Tincture if possible. Pink is a very difficult color to incorporate into flags. Since your pink is dark enough, it might look OK to have a white border around the circle.
F: Nice colors, but I'm not a fan of maps on flags. Isn't there a symbol of Asia out there?
K: I don't like the brown on blue, it would look better if the brown border was lightened to more of a gold, or, better yet, made white. The Jewish symbolism is heavy-handed for a haplogroup that extends beyond Jews. Do Palestinian K carriers want this as their flag?

I like the initiative though. Any ideas for U4?

what if you use your own imagination? on a more open field, than squares and circles?
like the centro of 1rst flag?

Yup, I'm right on it.

More transcendent and universal would be in order. It is impossible to link any of hg to specific modern populations. It would mean that you have kart blansh and your imagination to make flags anything you want. Have fun and keep them posted.

Thanks, I honestly like that one very much. Good symbolism, simple patterns, not too culture-specific but still relevant, colors are good, and no colors that don't look good next to each other.

Well, the flags have all been replaced with newer versions.

Here is the last one that I made.

So, if you are of any specific mtDNA hap, you could collaborate and help me make the flags more tailored to your hap.

Have you thought about making flags for y-haplogroups?

Here are some of my initial ideas:
E: Papyrus and desert
G: Mountains
I1: Megalith and ship
J1: A letter from the Proto-Semitic alphabet.
N: Midnight sun, ice
R1a: Kurgan and wheel
R1b: Seacoast, tartan pattern
T: Crowd of people around a globe (as a family scattered among many nations)

That's interesting. I've thought before about how interesting it would be to have a counterpart making flags for Y-dna. How would you like to begin making them?
