Why can't monkeys talk?

A contributing reason might be the lack of universal education.

I wanted to write something about Planet of the Apes, but thought better of it considering how often I reference movies. It's very light-minded of me. :)

You can never have too many references to movies, especially all time classics like the Planet of the Apes!

Technically us Humans are in the ape family so we are kind of living in a "planet of the apes". Although if you are going to teach Chimps and Gorillas English, your best bet is genetic tweaking and sending them to school as infants.

Some time in the future: a chimp and gorilla are sitting at the back of the class playing up, they've just written on the wall: I hate skool.

I don't blame them, kids have been teasing them all day long.

True Mowgli or was it Tarzan? Oh yeah, Mowgli was raised by the wolves like Remus & Romulus

A lot of human children don't really like school. But good point, a chimp in school would be a little new and strange at first. But perhaps overtime we could get a hint or a clue of how early humans communicated before spoken language.
