A steppe rodent was the vector for the plague, and perhaps the red squirrel was the vector for leprosy. Great.

My mother was always manic about keeping rodents away from the house, including squirrels. I thought it was crazy, at least as far as squirrels are concerned. I mean, they're cute, right?

What about getting rid of rodents? I mean, what have they done for us lately? :)
