6000 year old mask found in Neolithic setting in Germany

These are some other examples of Neolithic "Spirit Masks". I find them really eerie.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I don't like masks in general, despite their traditional use in Italy. I like to see people's faces.

They continued to make them after they developed metallurgy.

These Neolithic funerary statues, on the other hand, despite their crudity seem familiar some how, and not frightening.
