Hello, today I have found out trough SNP testing that I belong to L858 haplougroup.

What is so far known about it, and how and when did it possible get to balkan area?

What more to test, FTDNA is suggesting to order FGC7638

No honey don't worry you're FGC12- so you're not descended from Arab tribes that spread with Islam. You are Semitic though, being L858+, what is strange about your result is that you're negative for most of the "usual" snp's under L858, like Z644,YSC67,PF4872,and FGC11.

The Levant being the most diverse in J1-P58 is probably where you got your result, so from the Levant into the Balkans, but I am not sure. It is interesting so Ill investigate more.

Thank you for your answer. No, I am not afraid of possible arabic deep ancestry nor jewish. But, would be lovely to know how and when and by whome my patrilineage was started here on a Balkan area. Probably is also not jewish, because i have no matches, only on 12 STR level settings, which is far far remote in history.

I am though confused that I am negative on all SNPs downstream of L858. We will see what FGC768 (FGC11) will bring.

You should join the J1 project at FTDNA. It is not compulsory, but you will learn more from the administrators of the J1 project particularly Victar Mas. He is not J1 but his father-in-law whose surname is Graham is J1. Most of the testing in J1 has been funded by the people who belong to that haplogroup. Official testing stopped at J-P58 which is >8,000 years old. J-L858 is 5,000 years old, there are a few downward SNPs off L858. You mentioned FGC11, that is one, my subclade is another, it is the one that peels off PF4872. It is an expensive business testing for SNPs in the Y chromosome, I would not recommend it. I have spent heaps, it is my money to spend and it has yield novel SNPs like L829, my WTY test and FGC128XX, my FullGenomes test, I have done BigY as well. Of course you don't get any kudos for doing these tests, the discovery of novel SNPs in your DNA or any acknowledgement, but it does further the phylogenetic tree of J1. When I started with the WTY test and L829 was found in my sample, the know it alls said it was a private SNP. Shows you how ignorant people are in J1. There are no Jews in this subclade but there are a minority of Cis Caucasians and Middle Eastern men in it, though outnumbered by Spanish, Italian, British and other Europeans. It may be the same with your subclade.

My haplogroup is J1 pf4827 too. My father came from southern poland and my next related ychromosomal types are clustered in slowakia/ hungary.
The next more distinct relative is armenian. Our mcra lived about 1000y before.
I am rather sure that my x- ancestors came from northern syria and were displaced as armenians to hungary.

You should read about the history of paulicians. They were a christian sect in south east anatolia aka former armenia. In the year 970 200.000 of them were displaced into thrace. The sect then spread under the name of bogomils to bosnia.

yes .. this is 100% Semitic Arabian , under FGC1 tribes in Arabia like some of Ancient Pre-Islamic tribe of "Hawazin" .. also some of Rashaidah and maybe others i'm not aware of


generally speaking FGC11 (parent of FGC1) is 100% Arabian and have 10's of Arabian tribes all over Arabia and spread with the Islamic conquest elsewhere , but i don't understand how exactly you reached Croatia ?
