View Full Version : I like Autumn (more than Summer)

I prefer the cool nights, and holidays that are associated with the fall. I'm a big fan of Thanksgiving particularly. I like wearing jackets, and clothing more appropriate for the season. I'm also a fan of the leaves on trees changing color. It feels a lot more comfortable than the hot and humid summer, here in the northeast. One of my old bosses was an older Russian gentleman, that lived during the time of the USSR. He said NJ, and the surrounding area reminded him of Moscow; brutally hot summer, and bitterly cold winter, in a highly industrialized area.

Fall is a good time of year for this area, because it feels temperate. Spring does too, but I'm not really a fan since I get terrible allergies during that time. The only thing that's annoying me right now is that I'm feeling ill from the changes in the temperature, making me take a day from work. It's actually still kind of humid, so I can't wait for the weather to get more consistent. Summer ends on the 22nd, and I cannot wait.

I like them all, except freezing temps in winter.

I'm a summer guy. If I had my way, I'd make New York more like Florida where I can live in a swampy environment similar to the glades and live in a shack from where I push away gators using a ten foot long broomstick. Swamps are the best!

davef

And I absolutely despise winter! I hate being shacked up between walls, I love going out in nature with my animal pals who can't go out due to nature's cruelty.
Seriously, if offered 10 million bucks, I'd still prefer to live in a tent. I'll feed any gator that comes across bc it won't need me for food if fed and I'll be helping an animal friend. It's a much better alternative to calling the warden. I'll just deem him as my gator friend who's mindin his own, looking for food to survive.

I prefer autum vs summer too. Because in Madrid the summer is hot, here is habitual to reach 36-38º. As a dry climate, the autumm rain is very welcome. Madrid in winter is not too bad, The christmas are specially warm in here, not for the weather but for the people in the streets and we only have 2-5 snowy days (some years 0 snowy days) In the near mountains of Sistema Central (60km, 2500masl ) we have ski stations

I've been to both Italy and Greece during July 2009, and It was pretty hot there as well. When I went to the Netherlands in that same month, I was amazed by the fact the sun went down at 11 pm, and rose at 4 am. I've never experienced that before, nor did I know about it until then.

I've also been to Las Vegas, Nevada; which was also very hot. But I didn't mind it, because it was a dry heat. Probably one of the best vacations I've had was there. The desert, and open spaces looked very majestic and awe inspiring. Also, gambling in the casinos was a lot of fun, and much cooler than in Atlantic City, which is a dump. Las Vegas has some really bad areas too, but I mainly stuck to the strip when I was in the city.

But the thing about the area I'm in is the humidity. I don't mind the hot temperature, but I hate the humid and sticky air. The worst is on those mornings, where there's trash collection, and the garbage trucks pass by stinking up the air. Winter is not great either, but at least it makes things feel a lot cleaner around here. But I dislike staying in because of the cold temperature, and the fact that parking is non-existent due to the snow.

I love all the seasons. They each have their advantages, except maybe summer. It's hot a humid in the midwest. I freeze my husband out in the winter when I open the window, even if it's below 0. I love to sleep with heavy blankets in a cold room.

Me too.

You would probably have liked living in "Camelot". :) Me too, again. From one of my favorite Broadway shows:

I do have an extra warm place in my heart for a Northeastern U.S. autumn, which I guess is pretty close to an English one. No one is better, in my opinion, for making music from words, and conveying sensuality through visuals than Keats.

Arrghhh!!! I DESPISE winter!! :)
I'm averse to wintery, snow covered forests (rife with pines and spruces) or any other reminders of winter/cold climates.
We need a Florida climate! Now! :)

To me, winter represents illness, suffering, and depression. And I couldn't care less about Christmas. If I could live my life without it I'll be cool bc I wont miss it. If we could somehow invent a weather machine that blesses planet earth with the last half of summer all year round, that'll be great.

Santa Claus is a lying fraud with a fat butt.

I've always loved Fall as well, the colors and general atmosphere is great. Especially when you're surrounded by forests. Though I've got to say, as someone who's only seen three snow days in his life and recently saw one, Winter isn't half bad either.

It is beautiful to look at, especially when you're not prone to cabin fever. Wink.
I'll admit, Im a bit spoiled due to following the "Hudson Valley in Pictures" group on Facebook.

those symptoms I posted plus the nausea and chills I woke up to this morning are gone, so I cancelled

If you're implying that's the the Hudson Valley, which is indeed beautiful, it's not. That's an ocean in the last picture.

It's not New Jersey either, for those who seem convinced I live there.

Taking a walk during a snowfall is one of life's pleasures. I do it almost every time there's a snowfall. The air is different somehow.

There's also skating, skiing, sledding, although I haven't done the latter since my children were young.

It's definitely too long here, though. They should have a rule, like in Camelot: Winter can't arrive until December and by March the second must disappear.

Thanks and no, I wasn't implying those were Hudson valley pics :) just that I've seen many nice pics of snowy outdoor sceneries taken, and grew "spoiled" :).

Skiing and skating aren't for me, never did the former. Sledding is fun, weeeeeee

Ah the joy I have when its cloudy and dark ... pure happiness.

Ah, I forgot you've lived in Saudi, perhaps most of your life?

I've never been; I don't know what it's like.

The only "desert" I really know is the type in New Mexico and Arizona. I thought it was beautiful, and I coped with the weather just fine, but Saudi deserts are probably an order of magnitude sunnier and hotter. Also, everything is air-conditioned. Even if it's dry heat, I couldn't live there without it. I also wore a hat all the time, but so did everyone else. :)

I like all seasons to be honest but it really depends on where you live. If I was in the most southern part of Europe in Summer i would really dislike it because the night will be too hot and my skin will burned by the hot sun (even if i put sun cream somehow I get burned because of my pale skin). In north of south Europe I really enjoy summer there because it is hot but not too hot to enjoy it and my skin is more ok with it (but i still get burned if im not careful).

Autumn is nice aswell for me it's a start of a new beginning and a cooler welcome to winter. I can use a bigger blanket to sleep in and the leafs look lovely in that time. Also Halloween is fun and that is in Autumn too. How ever I think Autumn is better in northern Europe just because it works better on how it should be, south Europe takes more of it's time with Autumn.

Yeah all my life :( I'm planning to flee the country soon hahahaha

Our sun is not fun at all, it regularly reaches 45 degrees, I almost fainted when one time it got 54 degrees Celsius, its cool these days, I don't recognise the seasons here, they're all hot, except winter, that's tolerable.

Your deserts seem fun, they have clouds and vegetation and life .... I'm jealous.

Wow! Big difference...the highest average temperature in Santa Fe in the hottest summer month is 30. Even if it goes up to 35, sometimes...

It doesn't rain very much, maybe on average about an inch a month, but they can bring water in. I recommend Santa Fe to people all the time; a friend of mine lives there and loves it. It's really beautiful, and because it's high desert it actually has four seasons. In the mountains there are even some ski slopes. It's also an artist town, and considered one of the best "outdoor pursuits" locations in the U.S.

https://www.movoto.com/blog/real-estate-and-more/moving-to-santa-fe/

The U.S. is so big that you can find every type of climate. The Northwest is like the British Isles: rain, rain, clouds, clouds, rain. My favorite cousin lives there; better her than me. Well, she regrets settling there for a number of reasons, but sometimes when you make a choice you have to live with it.

Last time I visited her it looked like this every single day.

I am mtdna haplogroup J, and it is said we produce more body heat (as a favorable adaptation to northern climes) than the others-in fact, this is why I had predicted my mtdna to be J before I took the 23andMe test (despite it being a minority of about 11% where my maternal line comes from), and was not surprised when I found out I was J1c2b. To me, 'Winter is Coming' is less a pronouncement of doom than a, to paraphrase Ben Franklin in his quote about beer, proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. This is despite the fact that I have an artificial heart valve (aorta) and take a blood thinner, which with most people makes them cold. My brother is similarly heat intolerant, but not our sister, which I chalk up to differences in body type; my brother and I are both broad chested and thick hipped while our sister is not.

For me there are charms in every season of the year. Nature has no bad weather, every weather is a blessing. I really love life in summer, autumn, winter and spring.

"Nature has no bad weather"? That's a rather silly comment to make. Why don't you say that to victims of hurricanes, and floods. Or individuals that suffered from heat stroke, or had loved ones who died from it. Or people that lost digits due to frost-bite, or froze to death.

I love fall, especially when the weather is warm. You can stroll in parks, drink hot cacao and chat with friedns. The atmosphere is really special. Besides, I'm a fun of Helloween, so I really can wait to buy a pumpkin and curve it. And, of course, I always organize a party, and it's a great time to hang out with friends.
