I’ve read up on this haplogroup and I’m still confused due to what the dna said... i have .2% ashkenazic Jewish, everything else is north Western European (88% Irish, 6.3% Scandinavian, 5.7% German/French)... any ideas as to how this is possible?

0.2% is negligible. It is either background noise or it goes back many generations. Ashkenazi Jews are of mixed German/Jewish origin, so it remains a European strain.
