The Val Borbera is politically Piemonte now, and the source of one of the Northern Italian academic samples, but it was part of Liguria until very recently, so they're "ethnically" Ligurian and speak a Ligurian dialect. They love to sing. Cavalli Sforza thought this was a refugee area for the Celt-Ligurians.
