View Full Version : Share your AncestryDNA Ethnicity Estimates
In 2017 I started a thread encouraging users to share their 23andMe Ancestry Composition (https://www.eupedia.com/forum/threads/33825-Share-your-23andMe-Ancestry-Composition) to get a better idea of what each admixture corresponds to. This resulted in the making of distribution maps for each European admixture (https://www.eupedia.com/europe/autosomal_maps_dodecad.shtml#23andMe). I would now like to do the same for AncestryDNA customers.
Please only share your results if all your ancestors come from the same country! Kindly also mention your ancestral region(s) within that country so that results can be classify more accurately.

My mom and her brother are both French Canadian with all of their ancestors coming from 17th century France mostly from Normandy, Ile de France, Aunis, and Poitou. Based on the comparison of their results I would assert that Southern European components such as Iberian Peninsula and Europe South are easily interchangeable or mixed up. Also, Northern European components such as Great Britain can be interchangeable or also represented as a mix of Scandinavia and Ireland/Scotland/Wales. Lastly, even though the map for Europe West covers France it doesn’t really apply to the areas of France where French Canadians came from.
Mom:
Iberian Peninsula 32%
Great Britain 23%
Scandinavia 17%
Europe South 15%
Ireland/Scotland/Wales 9%
Her Brother:

Europe South 21%
Iberian Peninsula 10%
My father is Wallonia Belgian from the Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse region.

Europe West 66%
Iberian Peninsula 10%
Ireland/Scotland/Wales 6%
Scandinavia 5%
