How fun. :)
I can see why my father's area and even part of my mother's is so isolated genetically. From Parma to Luna and Genova there are no Roman roads.
Actually you couldn't reach my father's area by modern road until the early 20th century. Before that it was horses or for the highest elevation villages, mule tracks.

The coastal road, the Via Aurelia (Aurelius) does pass through La Spezia, or near it, but very little of it is left.
The Via Appia near Rome fared better. I always tell tourists to walk it for a while. When I was a girl and had learned English, I watched the movie Quo Vadis about Peter and the early Church. Whenever I walk it those memories flood back.
The smooth top layer is gone, but you can see the construction.

The ancient Via Aurelia is underneath. To the left is an aqueduct.
