Some of these didn't occur to me at all as I was watching the movies.

I didn't know that Maximus' house was in San Quirico d'Orcia, or that the journey was through the Siena countryside. No wonder it was so beautiful.


Also, it escaped me that it was the Royal Palace of Caserta that was used in Star Wars I and II.

I also didn't know until later that Matera was used as Israel for "The Passion of the Christ". Very apt.
