Greetings!
I'm so mad at this forum for not letting me post due to a glitch about too many characters! Feel like I'm at tweeter!!
So I recently did some extensive DNA testing through 23andMe and Mytrueancestry dot com and I thought I'd share, hopefully I'm at the right place.

Albanian from Kossovo, Hapologroup EV13, 100% "Greek/Balkan."
My 23andMe results show as if I hail Peloponnese Greece but obviously not the case.

My Mytrueancestry is where it gets really cool as I have my dna results crossed-refrencesed with ancient samples of diff. ppl/cultures. I have tons of pics/charts/timelines and all kind of cool stuff that I can't seem to be able to share due to "too many characters." WTF??

20 posts in order to links/pics?? LOL!

Every Albanian i have seen has Peloponesse shown in 23andme, it's not the case, probably in the future when they update their algorithm it will sort it out.

What fis do you belong to?

I am a Gashi.
Yes, what I really wanted to share was mytrueancestry.com results where I uploaded the 23andMe results and these guys crossed-referenced my results with the ancient dna samples of diff. pp/cultures. It's really cool man, I wish I could share them here. You can find me on twitter as Penn Gashi where I have posted a bunch of charts/timelines, etc. Really cool, stuff.
Needless to say, according to these results, I've been here since the immemorial times. I personally share DNA segments with Illyrian soldiers, Roman Emperors, etc.

There are no Roman Emperor samples. After you post a certain number of times you can post screenshots etc.

I can email you the pics to post if that's OK, otherwise I'll just be shitposting until i get the credentials to post pics.

In the picture, they look like Roman Emperors.

In the picture, they look like Roman Emperors.

I assure you that no Roman Emperor dna has ever been recovered, or Senatorial Rank or Equestrian or anything like that. Many of these tombs were for the poor, or sailors/merchants near the port etc.

It's irrelevant how some company illustrates a particular sample for marketing purposes.

I'm rest assured now as my knowledge on this matter is barely a beginner.
I'll try not to be too ambiguous in my posts.

What Y-DNA do you have?
Hope you can share the pictures soon.

It's EV13.

According to the trueancestry website, I personally share DNA segments with Minoan 2000 BC, Early Bronze Age Mokrin Necropolis Serbia 1959 BC, Illyrian Soldier 1600 BC, Seleucid 165 BC, etc etc...

Im E-V13 too. Do you know which subclade of E-V13 exactly?

Penn101
28-02-21, 06:26
Not sure actually, but I just emailed them to find out. Will post it once available.

Moderators, can you pls explain the logic behind the "you need to rack up points before you can post pics."?
Honestly, I just don't have the time...I just want to share my results and get a professional perspective on my results that I paid good money for!
Pls get rid of this stupid rule?

Hawk
28-02-21, 16:20
Well, eupedia.com has a rule, lots of spammers around and they don't want more people coming here and jump right into spamming with those ad/marketing posts, this has nothing to do with you.

And by the way, don't get dragged by some marketing labelling of samples.

As a Gashi E-V13, i think chances are that you are E-V13 => Z5018 => S2979 => L241 or E-V13 => Z5018 => S2979 => FGC11450

Gashi i Gurit seems to be J2b2-L283 in majority, but overall Gashis seems to be a mixed clan with different paternal ancestors.

Thank you Progon, it makes sense now, I guess.

So, has the genetics been able to make black and white out of this gray area of Balkan history?
Or have those results that I mentioned been discussed here before, has anybody posted them?
I’m waiting for somebody to comment my findings, pls.

OK, I think I am finally able to post pics now, thank you Eupedia!
1258612587These are my 23andMe results, again, I bear the EV13 mark, these guys haven't gotten back to me yet when I asked them to provide me the whole Y-DNA group.

Now this is where it gets more interesting, I think.
12588This is the ancestry timeline from mytrueancestry dot com, where I uploaded my 23andMe raw date and they crossed-referenced it with ancient dna samples.
The criteria I set for these results were from "dawn of time" to "0 BC" with 30 samples (to avoid overcrowding the time-line).

In this pic the criteria I set is from "0 BC" to 1500 AD"12589.
I have many more that I will post later.

I dont get this chart at all. Whats time timeline supposed to mean? Is it showing you your closest ancient autosomal matches? What a weird marketing strategy from their side.

This is my ancestral timeline / Journey through time, a time line of samples I match either by ancestry or by sharing direct DNA segments.

Roopkund Lake, also known as Skeleton Lake, is a high altitude glacial lake located in the Himalayas of northern India. The area is uninhabited and found at an altitude of 5020 meters. The lake itself is only 3 meters deep but known for containing up to 800 human skeletons. Some appear to have perished in a massive hailstorm dating to the 9th century as fatal blows have been found on some of the heads indicating being hit by something round like a cricket ball. No weapons have been found and the absence of injuries elsewhere indicates large hail stones or ice balls fell from the sky.

What do these numbers mean?
Genetic distance measures how close you are to a given sample.

10 means this is your ancient ancestry
20 means this is part of your ancestral link
30 means possibly related to your ancestry

.
A sample with this button means a Sample Spotlight is available which includes detailed information, photos, videos and/or useful links.

12597What is my Deep Dive Breakdown?
Your share DNA segments with your Deep Dive matches. This chart represents a union of all your deep dive matches weighted per total SNPs you share and their own individual classification. The displayed result is your personalized Deep Dive breakdown.

Note: This will change over time as more samples are added.

03-03-21, 18:13
Yeah, as I thought. Well its interesting for beginners to get an idea.

But distances greater than 10 are quite far. Id say youre truly related to an ancient people when the distance is like 5-7, so you can justify partial ancestry from a certain group, not fully descending from them of course.

Yes, I did take that issue up with 23andMe and was advised that as more Albanians take the tests, they will change that accordingly, similarly as ancestry.com did.

Some Italians find out they are Greeks. Bulgarians or Serbs are Romanians, or vice versa, although they speak completely different languages. Very bizarre results.

It seems like my haplogroup EV13 peaks in Kosovo, almost 50%, and Peloponnese, GR, this is probably due to the Arvanites' (Albanians) migration to Greece in 1400's as the Islander Greeks are apparently different group.
It's really sick, if you drill down on 23andMe's website, I have found many long "lost" cousins from Peloponnese but also, Greeks from throughout the world.

It seems that 23 and me does not provide any data for Kosova, that is why you get Peloponnesus as the first match.

The Crusader States (also known as Outremer) were created after the First Crusade (1095-1102) as a way to keep hold of territorial gains by Christian armies in the Middle East. Crusader castles were built all over Outremer to serve not only as defensive structures, but also as administrative and economic centers designed to last for many years to come. The four small Outremer states were the Kingdom of Jerusalem, the County of Edessa, the Country of Tripoli and the Principality of Antioch. This analysis focuses on the former Phoenician and later Roman colony of Sidon / Saida which remained in Arab hands until 1110 when King Baldwin I of Jerusalem and King Sigured I of Norway captured it. The city was then re-captured by the masterful Saladin in 1187, only to be re-taken by German Crusaders in 1197. It remained a key Crusader stronghold until the Saracen invasion of 1249 when it was destroyed - this series of exchanges presented the backdrop for the ill-fated 7th Crusade

Nine male skeletons were uncovered in a burial pit next to the Castle of St. Louis dating to the 13th century. The men had been killed violently in battle, based on the evidence of blunt force injuries on the skulls and bones. The bodies were dumped in the pit and burned. Carbon-14 dating of the European shoe buckles indicates mid 13th century and a coin found alongside the remains is dated 1250. This confirms the bodies are indeed from this period of the 7th crusade which means they were deposited there following a battle likely in 1253 against Muslims or in 1260 against Mongols. The remains suggest the soldiers making up the Crusader armies were genetically divcerse and intermixed with the local population in the Near East - although today there is no lasting effect on the local population. However these bodies clearly show that Europeans, Near Easterners and mixed invdividuals were living and dying side by side in the Crusades.
