US fingerprints 'allied' visitors

A US requirement for visitors to be fingerprinted and photographed is being expanded to include citizens from America's closest allies.
The move will affect visitors from 27 countries - including the UK, Japan and Australia - whose nationals are able to visit the US without a visa.

The change in the US-Visit programme is due to take effect by 30 September.

Aren't some American politicians becoming paranoiac to the point where they believe that everything not American is dangerous ?

I'd like to know how Arudo Debito will react, after criticising Japan for treating foreigners as criminals by requiring fingerprints on the alien registration cards (which were finally abolished a few years ago).

It sure seems that way. It's so ridiculous!! And it's not doing much for our "Ugly American" image either, by the way!

But Don't You All Know What This Means???

Surely, not a single American on his home soil, will ever die from a terriost act again. We can all sleep in blissful peace, our Gov. is on the job!! I do think we should go for those 30 ft tall walls on all our borders,
especially between states and that rif-raf to the north called Canada! Possibly house arrest of all those low-lifes
not of the correct PURE blood! Yes-sir-ree, no need for all those stupid little rights we've had, BEING SAFE is the prime factor to consider!!

Silly people...don't you get it? it's all part of the Universal April Fool's joke the US is pulling on the rest of the universe, just to make sure the real aliens (outside planet Earth) know that they will be targeted by them Men In Black. The finger printing recorder is actually a DNA scanner, to verify if you're really human or not

but on the serious side, this will no doubt be a temporary measure, just like the INS scandal that led to Portland, Oregon being called "DePort-land" by the foreign business community from Asia

or until the government goes back to sleep again.....as they allow terrorists through the check stands at the airport, while stopping little old ladies with pace makers....

I don't think fingerprinting ALL non-US citizens can prevent ALL terrorist attacks in the US if we remember the dreadful attack by a disillusioned US citizen Timothy McVeigh who was also a Gulf War veteran.

Although the militia might have been uprooted since, the incident does show what a loss of respect for the government can do. Would that mean all US citizens who happen not to be WASP should also get fingerprinted ?

What's more I don't see how fingerprints can prevent a suicide terrorist from carrying out his/her plan. Especially if this person has never entered the US before or US authorities have no information about his terrorist connections.
