    Thinking & Language

NO. Thinking and language are absolutely inseparable. If you can't give your thoughts a distinct form by the means of a language, you wouldn't be able to have concise thoughts in the first place. Your thinking would be reduced to animal niveau only, at best.

are those languages obsolete and sexist? And should they be modified?

Well, I think articles and gendered words are totally antiquated and don't belong into our time anymore. TThere's no good reason for using articles anymore, and gendered words should be replaced by gender-neutral ones - if neccessary, one could use a prefix or something for male/female. The...

Multiple Poll: Are you harsh on your own language ?

I wouldn't say that German is any more difficult than English. While it has a little more grammar (like verb conjugations), it has a nice and regular spelling, unlike English, where the spelling is often quite arbitrary :relief: Italian is somewhat more complicated than the two. While the...

    British Dishwash

As bossel already said, it's common in Germany as well: 2) immerse in detergent, wipe off mess, wipe w dry cloth, to rack Dunno about the UK, but here there's a norm that all detergents are 98% of its contents are bio-degradable (or something along the lines). Guess the same applies for the UK...

    Multilingual Europe ?

Very interesting... it's not surprising that English has the most non-native speakers, but I didn't know that German had the most native speakers :D

    German pronunciation

You'll have to set the Codepage to "Western" (Iso-8859-1), then it displays fine. I used the charmap to look for the Ipa chars.

    German for Starters

The issue is probably that the Bavarian dialect is very different from Standard German, so much that I'd say it's a language of its own, as it's actually pretty much incomprehensible to any German. I guess the opposite would be right as well, a Bavarian will have difficulties understanding...

"My language difficult." What does it mean?

Exactly, the tones are a real pain :okashii: Learning the hanzhi is quite annoying too - even if you know already what one character is read in Japanese, you still have to learn how it's read/pronounced in Chinese... :relief:

    Are you a smoker?

[x] Non-smoker. Do agree on bans I think smoking bans are a good thing. If you want/have to enter certain places, I don't want any nasty fumes there - it stinks really awful and is very unhealthy as well. Right now, over here smoking is banned in schools, some railways and some public places. I...
