Translation of Marco Mengoni's San Remo winning song: Due Vite
We are the only ones awake in the whole universe
And I don't know your desert well yet
Maybe it's in a place in my heart
Where the sun is always off
Where sometimes I lose you
But if I want I'll catch you
We are stuck in a time like this
Which lifts the streets
With the sky one step away from here
We are the monsters and the fairies
I should phone you
Tell you the things I feel
But I've run out of excuses
And I have no more defences
We are a book on the floor
In an empty house
That looks like our own
Coffee with lemon
Against the hangover
You look like a blurred photo
And we screwed up one more night
Outside a club
And thank goodness
If this is the last
Song and then the moon explodes
I'll be there to tell you you're wrong, you're wrong and you know it
The music doesn't come here
And you don't sleep
And where will you be, where are you going
When life then exaggerates
All the runs and slaps, the mistakes you make
When something upsets you
And I know that you never sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep, never sleep
What turns two lives take
We are the only ones awake in the whole universe
Shouting a little rage above a roof
That no one feels like this
That no one watches movies anymore
The flowers in your room
My metallic shirt
We are a book on the floor
In an empty house
That looks like our own
Lost among people
How many words
Without ever an answer
And we screwed up one more night
Outside a club
And thank goodness
If this is the last
Song and then the moon will explode
I'll be there to tell you you're wrong, you're wrong and you know it
The music doesn't come here
And you don't sleep
And where will you be, where are you going
When life then exaggerates
All the running and slapping, the mistakes you make
When something upsets you
And I know you don't sleep anyway
You turn off the light even if you don't like it
We remain in the dark surrounded
Only by the sound of the voice
Beyond the madness that dances in all things
Two lives, look at the mess
If this is the last
Song and then the moon explodes
I'll be there to tell you you're wrong, you're wrong and you know it
The music doesn't come here
And I know that you never sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep, never sleep
What turns two lives take

I'm asking sincerely. Does anyone else other than the Italians write modern poetic songs like this? If there are link me to their music, because I want to listen to it.

RIP Raquel Welch. All of that and she could sing too.

Alison Krauss singing Vince Gill's song and he does the harmony. The only think that disappointed me was that he didn't play more guitar. He's an absolute master, as well as being a great singer. Alison is pitch perfect every time; a beautifully "pure" voice.
One of the things I love about America which is unique, is Country Music by greats like these.

My favorite "Country" genre is Blue Grass. Best compilation is the sound track to the film "O Brother Where Art Thou", with George Clooney.
Here is one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite Blue Grass groups:

How nice to find another Metallica fan. :)
I really like Metallica Angela. In the show on May 17, 2022 in BH I was there with my son. My wife and my son's girlfriend didn't go because they prefer softer music. But my son and I are huge Metallica fans. It was a beautiful show. The metal band Greta Van Fleet, also from the USA and which makes a sound inspired by Led Zeppelin, performed before Metallica. They are very young and very good. They did a sort of sound check for Metallica. A kind of tasting for the main show.

That's typical. None of my girlfriends growing up liked that kind of music. To be fair, Metallica is probably the only metal band I like, but I did and do love not only classic rock, but hard rock, and southern rock, along with old time rhythm and blues. While I listened to that, they were listening to groups like Chicago. No offense to Chicago fans, but "YUCK"! I also really like action films and sci fi, which left most of my girl friends cold. My favorite series for years was the Dune Chronicles, which they've ruined, but that's for another day. The boys liked it that I shared some of their interests, though. :)
Musical taste wasn't the only way in which I differed from girls my age. As a little girl, I couldn't stand playing "house" and baby doll. I wanted to be a pirate or the friend of the Count of Monte Cristo, or an explorer or maybe a female spy or resistance fighter during World War II. All the stories I heard from my family made a huge impression on me. I would call my mom and ask to go home from "play dates" because I was bored. I preferred my books, fiction and non-fiction and our family stories.
Biology hi-jacked me, though. Puberty led to boys, and the make-up and dress sense I thought were needed to attract them, and when my children were born, I became the most obsessed mother on the planet, much more so than those friends who had been more "traditional" in their interests.

Definitely one of my favorite Metallica songs.
