Preview: Upcoming Ancient Greek Transect (Mesolithic to Medieval) from Biomuse.

One of these days we will have enough samples so that we can stop all these silly ultra nationalist theories.

Nope it does not but for us genetics freaks it deprives us from knowing exactly what happened to Athenian genetics.🤣

There was definitely a stop in that civilization after between 1200-800BC approximately. Whether that was due to conquest by the horde, raids by the sea people, climactic change, earthquakes or what have you, there definitely was a change. Whether it was accompanied by genetic change, we need...

Or there was no conquering just movement down the Balkans and the horde settled, got assimilated, intermarried and got Hellenized.

You know Pelops along with Atreus and Agamemnon are all mythical figures, right? AS far as what the rest of the Greeks spoke, your solution to them speaking Greek later on is that they got conquered by the Mycenaeans?

To be expected, since the Mycenaeans lived at the south end of mainland Greece with a cline of steppe admix as we go north.

@Jovialis have you or @Salento downloaded the files from this paper and incorporated it in the Expedia dataset?

Totally agree with you as far as admixture is concerned in large urban centers like Athens and Thessaloniki. They attract people from far and wide, traders and artisans, artists and entertainers, mercenaries and adventurers. That's why I like more testing in the small settlements and the...

Society 3 out of 4 Americans are now overweight, including nearly 1 in 2 obese

I think the numbers are very exaggerated particularly in the earlier years. No way that 50% of American men were obese in the 70s. Maybe closer to 30% or even lower. I still want to know the methodology of this study. Is it from patients in hospitals? Truly random? People in the street?

    the best country to visit

I recommend sticking to the main tourist attractions and places. If you go off the beaten path hire a guide/driver. I recommend the same for France and Spain. Younger people speak English but older ones, ehhhh.

Why are the Central Anatolians the closest to the Greeks among the Anatolia Turks?

Also please note that due to the large exchange of populations between Greece and Turkey you could have ended up with a lot of Greek & Balkan descent Muslims moving to central Anatolia. I have no data to support that, just a hypothesis.

    South Albania Tumulus DNA samples

Again, conclusions about the presence or not of EV-13 in Greece is based on very few samples. When people talk about Mycenaeans and making conclusions about the rest of Greece to me speaks of scientific close-mindedness. Let's wait for more samples from the different parts of Greece before we...

    South Albania Tumulus DNA samples

We don't have enough Greek samples of the different periods to make any grand pronouncements, do we? Maybe EV13 is the halo of the masses and not the elite. So far we have samples from the elite mainly.

    South Albania Tumulus DNA samples

Riverman, to your knowledge, are the EV13 subclades downstream or the same as Vlach (Aromanian) subclades? There is a theory being floated on this site that the Greek EV13 is totally due to Dacian EV13 whether in the form of Vlach tranhumants or Dacian farmers that were transplanted in Greece...

Economy The USA looks like a developing country in many ways. Here is why.

As far as Canada is concerned you have to differentiate between provinces since each province has its own healthcare system. Also, are these wait times after you are driving to the hospital by ambulance? Walking ties to the emergency room? Whatever people's complaints are about Canada's system...
