I follow the channel ecolinguist from a long time, it has many interesting videos about the languages of italy.
Yesterday a new video came out about tuscan vernacular. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZm2ErE4V3c
I also recommend you the video about lombard language...
MOESAN, i have found the post you were talking about. The thing which is really strange is the absence of Gedrosia in the slavs and in the zone where there should have been a lot of steppe.
Also its high presence in the basques, they should have not been affected by steppe migration so much...
Here are the k12b results of the Mal'ta Buret sample which is found on gedmatch with kit number F999914.

Thanks Duarte for the explanation on Bolshoy_Ostrov.
I have noticed that using Hallstat/La Tène instead of yamnaya improves the results for northern italians, lowering the fit, both in mixed and in two modes.
While C_Italian_N + Yamnaya is an acceptable approximation i think it lacks...

What is Bolshoy_Ostrov? why is it included? On a pca it seems near to Yamnaya.
On the other calculators WHG+Anatolia+Steppe i usually get 32% Yamnaya, do you...
These results are not really useful for analysing a norse ancestry cause the use modern population to model her or ancient populations from different timeframes. if you pm me the cordinates i can run them through G25 studio.
I'm not an expert but to me these results seems to hint a viking ancestry.
What do you mean exactly by norse? the waves of danish vikings or the norman conquest?
You know england was invaded by the germanic anglo-saxons starting from 500 a.d.,
Between the 8th and 11th centuries, raiders and...
Yes, the romans drained lot of areas in italy to make them suitable for agricolture. they even deforested sicily if i am not wrong.
I have a special thing for water too, especially when combined with nature and plants=). i love calm lakes and ponds with reeds and small creeks in the forest.

I thought of terrramare too when i read this post on pile dwellings.
Italian wikipedia states that Terramare are derived from an expansion of Polada culture, i think it is reasonable that the practice of living in pile dwellings can be traced back to neolithic.
Keep in mind that the Padan Plain...
Yes, probably protecting the grains from rodent was a major factor. Where did you get the information that pile dwellings were used also on dry land?
Wikipedia states that there are 111 prehistoric pile dwelling around the alps, all near wetland, river or lakes.
Thank you, really interesting.
I imagine it was convenient to live near the lakes, there is a microclimates around them which favourites the cultivations.
Nowadays around lake garda (lombardy) they produce olive oil.
