Genetic Origins of Minoans and Mycenaeans

^ This as I wrote quite some time ago. I have been reading quite allot of times that in ancient sources Mycenaens have been described to have expanded in oversizing the local numbers. About the West Iranic tribes , aka proto Medes it is said by ancient Near Eastern sources. That they were...

Genetic Origins of Minoans and Mycenaeans

Yet not a single "Steppic" yDNA found among them. The only Steppic thing found among them was some little EHG (which could have came via the Caucasus anyways) and a female mtDNA. So either there was some J lineage among the Steppic cultures we don't know off yet, or Mycenian comes from a...

Do feminists hate househusbands THEY created?

No, of course not. Did my comment gave you this impression? When I speak about changing roles I specifically speak about the characteristic features of the respective genders such as the behave. But also there are very few jobs that only fit one specfic gender better. But none of the above...

Do feminists hate househusbands THEY created?

This is the first time Angela where I almost completely disagree with you Sorry from my experience only romantic wishfull thinkins. I would bet all my money a woman would rather even have an a..hole than some submissive "househusband". While her best prefference would be a little dominant...

Do feminists hate househusbands THEY created?

It was clear that this would happen. I am sorry but modern era femninists have no idea what women (even they themselves) want. It is no suprise to me that the wife doesn't feel attracted to her submissive husband anymore. equal rights and opportunities is one thing. A man who cares for is...

    First Genomes from Ancient Egypt

This is only measuring shared drift not shared ancestry. on the PCAs and the other graphs you can clearly see with whom they share most ancestry.

    First Genomes from Ancient Egypt

Palestinians don't lack SSA (far from it) they just have less. There was a increase of SSA ancestry in all of the regions where the ancient Levantines expanded (Arabian Peninsula and the Levant). Palestinians have like 8% SSA while modern Egyptians 14%. Ancient Egyptians most likely had some...

    First Genomes from Ancient Egypt

What the paper is trying to say (and what is not incorrect) is that technically ancient Egyptians are closer to modern Europeans than modern Egyptians are because they have less SSA and little more farmer DNA. And the closest component in Europeans to the ancestry of Egyptians is EEF. EEF or...

Older men have geekier sons, study finds

But what is old. Is a parent around his 40s considered old?

Older men have geekier sons, study finds

Correct I was thinking the same but didn't comment on it. A factor of course is that people of higher status (not neccessary higher IQ) have children at older age. However that doesn't explain the same tendency in many families who do not have parents of higher education.

Kura Araxes Expansion and the Y lines that can be associated with them

I have no doubts that J lineages will be found among Kura Araxes samples. But until now these kind of things are simple speculations and the only samples we have by hand are 2 x R1bs and a L1b.

    First Genomes from Ancient Egypt

Thats the point some news outlets are misinterpreting the results. The paper clearly points out that modern Egypt = 92% ancient Egypt + 8% SSA. The study also says ancient Egyptians were closer to Middle Easterners and Europeans than modern Egyptians are. Well the reason for that is not them...

Great maps from "Indo-european demic diffusion model" 06.2107

He did one mistake though. Painting Parthians along Medes and Persians during Late Bronze Age. The Parthians didn't exist until the late Iron Age. The Parthians were born out of the Medes. And were simply a new dynasty of a population of predominantly Median ancestry with an early Parni Elite.

    First Genomes from Ancient Egypt

Guys I think both sides here are talking bypassing each other. I get the point of harena as wel LeBrock. LeBrock is correct in saying that the admixture in Anatolian_Farmers and Natufians is not WHG per se because WHG (as the name indicates, Western Hunters and Gatherers) is modeled after...

    First Genomes from Ancient Egypt

I agree that small pockets of Bedouins do look quite similar to Levant_Neolithic or Egyptians. But here is the problem. They are isolated pockets. When I speak of populations I mean them as a whole as average of a population. As the people we see when we come across a ethnic Saudi or Palestinian...

    First Genomes from Ancient Egypt

Not so much though. It seems they had allot of Iran_CHL admixture already during Late Neolithic/Bronze Age. However what did shook up the region seems to have been a combination of all (Iranian_Iron AGE, African etc), but especially a Sub Saharan African admixture via the Slave trade. Since SSA...

    First Genomes from Ancient Egypt

I criticized that statement already back than. THey probably made this statement to make clear how different they were. But looking at the genetic data or any PCA. that statement is obviously wrong. The difference between Iran_Neolithic and Levant_Neolithic is not comparable to that of West and...
