    J2b2-L283 (proto-illyrian)

It depends on what J. In Albania it's mostly J2b2-L283 and in some regions of Northern Albania/Kosovo J2b2-L283 reaches 30%-40%. I don't know about Romanian. Romanians, genetically speaking, have Dacian, Thracian, Slavic and other ancestry too. But I know there is some J2b2-L283 in Romanians...

Where does the Albanian language come from? [VIDEO]

I'm no expert but one should also not expect Albanian to be similar to ancient languages weather Illyrian or any other language. Maybe not the actual structure of the language (For example Thracian survived up until 900 AD I believe and there is an inscription in Thracian) but words at least in...

Where does the Albanian language come from? [VIDEO]

'Ul' and 'Ur' is also something that occurs in the Romanian language such as 'Surdul' which is a Vlach name I believe. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surdul Anyway these type do not occur in all Illyrian toponyms and I believe it's something that can change we also don't know what branches of...

I think Michiel De Vaan also seems to claim Gheg-Tosk split happened before Slavic incursion as did Eric Hamp

Where does the Albanian language come from? [VIDEO]

There is not a single fact that point to that, at least not of what I have seen. At least not in terms of cultural and linguistic studies on the Albanians. All point to a strong cultural influence from the Glasinac and Hallstatt culture. A cultural influence from Illyrians. And a relationship to...

Where does the Albanian language come from? [VIDEO]

They are butthurt because no EV-13 was found in Western Balkans so far so they are claiming now EV-13 was proto-Albanoid and bandwagon these dubious claims  If you look at some other examples I made you can see how Albanian language could of never come from the classical Thracian or...

Where does the Albanian language come from? [VIDEO]

There is too much cultural material that indicates Albanians originated in the Western Balkans. And this guy is going to get debunked like everyone else. So enjoy the bandwagon while it lasts. His arguments seem to mainly be based on some words with 'un' 'um' or 'ul 'ur' sounds. Which...

    J2b2-L283 (proto-illyrian)

Yeah there were Celts in Illyrian lands. I think there were even Celts in Albania and Kosovo. He distinguished the Epirote from Greeks, interesting enough. There is no question to me the Messapians were of Illyrian stock at one point. He mentions the Dardanians as Illyrians also.

Ok. So I have now sent an email to at least Noel Malcolm to see what he thinks about this guys claims. I hope he replies back. I also linked his book. Maybe he will read it. I hope he gets my email. Maybe I will send to some more historians and linguists. I am really curious to see what they...

Where does the Albanian language come from? [VIDEO]

I also agree that this is something that should be looked more into and I definitely will. But suffix -um in Gheg plural form for example is typical. Maybe it does not happen in place names today but this is a typical trait in plural form. If this is what he means. He seems to agree that it's...

Where does the Albanian language come from? [VIDEO]

The suffix -um happens in many Albanian words actually as does the suffix -on. It is something that is actually typical in Albanian when expressing something in plural form. Suffix -um is actually a typical trait of Albanian at least in terms of plural form. We also have the suffix of -e . The...

Where does the Albanian language come from? [VIDEO]

So apparently this Matzinger guy after I read him a bit more does not say that Albanian is not Illyrian, in fact he admits we don't know enough about Illyrians, but he claims Albanian is related to it. He seems to of abandoned the whole Thracian/Bessi theory which he claimed before I remember...

Or maybe the map is wrong. Since some Indo Europeans most likely settled around central Europe before migrating down to the Balkans and Italy.

According to this ''Italics'' migrated from the Balkans, could they of been J2b2 ?

Where does the Albanian language come from? [VIDEO]

So you're telling me Albanian is not Illyrian but somehow picked up large tools from the Iron Age Glasinac culture which was an Illyrian culture. Somehow Albanian also picked up plenty of cognates with Illyrian and place names even in Bosnia and Croatia that literally have an explanation in...

Where does the Albanian language come from? [VIDEO]

Here is another part from Strabo Illyrian place names also dominate Dardania. Although Darda was both a Thracian and Illyrian word it seems like some other common words. Toponyms in South-East Serbia in Thracian territory occur such as Dardapara or Darda-para, two units composed together which...
