    What is your y-haplogroup?

I'm L-Y109374* for now, but will form a new branch on the next yfull update with another Brazilian. My male line ancestors were of Portuguese descent and most of my matches seem to be of either Iberian or Scandinavian origin. No clue of how I inherited this haplogroup or of how it ended in Portugal.

    An Brazilian L-M349

As presumed, I'll form a new branch with the other Brazilian soon. My matches are him (who is of Portuguese descent), then an Norwegian and an Swede. Intriguing, to be honest.

    An Brazilian L-M349

YFull released my predictive haplogroup as L-Y109374*! I think that me and the other Brazilian will probably form one new branch when my results are completely processed.

    An Brazilian L-M349

Yep! My matrilineal line is of Sub-Saharan descent and my patrilineal line is (presumably) of Portuguese descent. I couldn't go much far back on the MTDNA line though, African-Brazilian genealogy is very difficult to actually advance.

    An Brazilian L-M349

Yes, I think so as well. If there is any kind of distant Central European (or Northwestern European, as there is some Englishmen on this branch) descent, it must be back to the aforementioned Nieuw Holland period back in the 1600's. But this is only if B374 come up as positive, and it seems...

    An Brazilian L-M349

Not much matches on Germanic Europe itself. There is some remote matches with Americans (14-15cM at most) with that origin (excluding, of course, those of Azorean descent, because the connection with them is more certain), but that's it. Our Brazilian matches in common are from the regions my...

    An Brazilian L-M349

Fair point! Most of my tree goes back to beginning of the 1800's, with some branches going up to more "famous" families of the colonial times. Only found people with typical Iberian surnames, so any German or Swiss ancestry would probably come up via NPE. If somehow the results fall up on the...

    An Brazilian L-M349

My results should be coming soon, up to mid January, so it may be a good time to comment here again. Even though my own specific branch is not known yet, I´m more or less convinced that it will be the Y109374 line (called L-BY56726 on ftdna) because of it´s presumed distribution on Western...

Y-DNA of Iberians or descendants of recent Iberians

Not much, unfortunately. L-M20 was detected on the districts of Coimbra and Porto, however, in the 2006 study of Beleza et al. There's also Brazilians, New Mexicans of Galician descent and Spaniards on the Y109374 branch, downstream of M349. Quite a high chance to be my own branch, too. My...

Y-DNA of Iberians or descendants of recent Iberians

I'm L-M349, currently waiting for my WGS results. Patrilineal line ancestors were oldstock Brazilians, that came to Brazil in the 1700's from Portugal.

    An Brazilian L-M349

I tested at a local Brazilian company and discovered that i´am L-M349/L1b1. Did not expect that haplogroup, for sure. My family, as far i know, have deep roots in Brazil with no immigrant ancestor that we are aware of. So i expected a more typical "Portuguese" patrilineal lineage, as it seems to...
