LivingDNA LivingDNA is way off, but why?

When I have some spare cash built up, I may take the 23andMe ancestry test just to see how it compares to LivingDNA.

LivingDNA LivingDNA is way off, but why?

That's a bold statement to make. Maciamo seems to regard LivingDNA quite highly.

LivingDNA Small Percentages - A "real" ancestor, or not? (Chuvashia)

Also, the Scandinavian DNA only shows up in my Complete results. In Standard and Cautious versions it simply reads, "unassigned"

LivingDNA Small Percentages - A "real" ancestor, or not? (Chuvashia)

Yeah, I'd honestly never even heard of Chusvashia until I read this thread.

LivingDNA Small Percentages - A "real" ancestor, or not? (Chuvashia)

Yeah, I was joking about that. According to my results, the Scandinavian DNA goes back at least 10 generations, but that's only 250 years. I'm pretty sure the Norwegians had stopped the whole rape and pillage thing by then...

LivingDNA Small Percentages - A "real" ancestor, or not? (Chuvashia)

Thanks for the link. It's probably not connected, but one of the things I noticed about my regional breakdown is that the highest percentage of my Family Ancestry(21.4%)is in Northwest Scotland. But the second highest(18.6%)is found in Lincolnshire, which used to be part of the Dane Law.

LivingDNA Small Percentages - A "real" ancestor, or not? (Chuvashia)

Good question, and one I've been trying to find an answer to myself since I received my LivingDNA results Great Britain and Ireland: 95.5% Scandinavia: 4.5% I love the Vikings as much as the next guy, but I somehow doubt that 4.5% of my DNA can be traced to some hairy Norseman raping one of...

LivingDNA LivingDNA is way off, but why?

Interesting. @Maciamo, what is your take on this?

LivingDNA LivingDNA is way off, but why?

    I wasn't aware of that.

LivingDNA LivingDNA is way off, but why?

I must admit, I'm surprised LivingDNA test to such low percentages. I am 95.5% British/Irish, and 4.5% Scandinavian. Such a tiny percentage of my DNA coming from Scandinavia is, I would have thought, pretty much irrelevant. I appreciate their professionalism in being so thorough, but really they...

Interesting thread. I really want to read what Maciamo thinks about this.

LivingDNA My LivingDNA results: Regional Breakdown question

Hi, Since Maciamo thinks so highly of LivingDNA, I decided to give them a try. My results are as follows, YDNA: R-L21, Subclade S3058. MtDNA: H69 My family ancestry shows that I am 95.5% British and Irish, with the remaining 4.5% hailing from Scandinavia. What interested me the most was the...

    R-s3058

I just received my LivingDNA results. My Fatherline is L21 and my Subclade is R-S3058. Unfortunately, LivingDNA didn't provide any information on this Subclade, apart from the fact that it is overwhelmingly British and Irish. If anyone has any information on the origins of R-S3058, I would be...

    H69

Hi, I recently bought the Chromo 2 test from ScotlandsDNA. My mtDNA result is H69. While H is obviously one of the most widespread of mtDNA Groups, H69 seems to be much rarer. Indeed, I have been unable to find any information about it. I would welcome any insight members can give me into the...

    Best DNA Ancestry Company?

Nobody move - I'm hijacking this Thread! Since no one answered the Thread I started, I will shamelessly derail this one: has anyone used BritainsDNA Chromo2, and if so, what was their results?

    BritainsDNA: Chromo2

I received an email from BritainsDNA; my EthnoAncestry results have been moved to their site after they absorbed EA. I was offered an upgrade to Chromo2 for a reduced price of £149. Has anyone used Chromo2? Apparently it's driven by Illumina which reads over 15,000 Y Chromosome Markers and...

What is the greatest empire ever existed?

Gold, tin etc, I would imagine. The land was also more fertile in the South. That's why the Danes were so determined to conquer the Wessex; it was the richest of the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms.
