Eastern Roman Empire did not end it is alive in Ankara and fully functioning as the same State institutional body after it had to change its legal title several times from RoMan to OttoMan in 1453, from OttoMan to TurkMan (Turkia) Republic in 1923.

Turkic People have no similar genetic affinity
However, what we see now dna of the Turkic people are not similar to each other. We may not think that Turks are descending from the same origin like only Q.
N Haplogroup might had arrived to Anatolia with Oghuzes as said in Turkey or Oghurs as said up in North now Russia among Oguric-Uralic tribes; however, both are referring to the same group of people speaking Turkic languages may be the source of the N Haplogroup.
Turks came to turkey from north more than inner asia
More people from the Balkans and the North, the Slavic lands (Ukraine, Russia, etc), speaking Turkic languages, might have come to Turkey, than the inner Asia.
There are Bulgarians in Northwestern Anatolia

However, my both grand mother and grand father were refugees from Byala Slatina, Bulgaria to Gonan, Turkey after 1877-1878 Turko-Russo War and they were mostly speaking Ukrainian.
Thracian Turks look different both physically and culturally from the local indigenous populations in Anatolia who are not from Turkic origins and speaking very much similar accent with the Moldovan Turks.
