neither the U.S or its allies are clean, but America for the most part will leave you alone if you hold certain standards and you don't provoke them too much. Is the US perfect? By no means, but the US still deals far more descent than the majority of countries around the world. If Iran seeks nuclear weapons and pushes it further they will end up like Iraq and Afghanistan it would be awful for the entire world but it will be primarily Iran that will pay, the country will be destroyed and their little theocracy will gone within a couple of years.

"within a couple of years". afghanistan and iraq aren't really at piece even now.

That's exactly my point Iran would be reduced to such a state and the theocratic government that has existed since the revolution will have disappeared with in a couple of years.I didn't say peace would come to Iran. I pray both sides are wise and that things cool down. A lot is going to depend on the attitude and behavior of the international community in the coming weeks and months.

the U.S can't kill someone like soleimani and think it doesn't go any further. they seriously don't know how humans functionif they believed that.

also, threatening someone to destroy cultural sites shows how little respect there is. and its basically a threatening to commit war crimes.

I'll repeat: Was killing Osama Bin Laden a war crime???

Do you have any idea how many terrorists Obama dropped bombs on while he was president???

If mainstream journalists had any freaking integrity they would have also asked the Democrats running for president if those were war crimes too.

As in most evil enterprises, civilian, political, you name it, it's always the people lower down the food chain who get taken out. It's not "just" if you want to put it that way, to let the ones pulling the chains get off.

Also, you don't stop something or go a long way toward stopping something until you cut off the head.

You don't plan an operation where you send your people into a U.S. military camp, abduct and torture and then kill Americans, and think you'll get away with it. End of story.

Oh, just as a btw, Biden was the only Obama advisor who advised against going after Osama Bin Ladin. I can't think of a single foreign policy decision in his whole political life where he's been correct.

It's been said before. Don't provoke the sleeping tiger. The Japanese learned it to their cost. So did Osama Bin Laden. So did Russia. Reagan spent them into total collapse.

The world keeps underestimating the U.S. First it was the EU who was going to bring it down economically, then Japan, now it's China, China whose economy is in trouble.

No country without innovation which doesn't follow market principles will ever defeat the U.S. economically.

If the U.S. falls, it will be by its own doing, and the Democrats are leading the way.

A New York (Italian !?) mayor going for Bernie!

@BilldeBlasio knows that the only way we can defeat Trump is by uniting people from all backgrounds around an agenda that speaks to working families. I’m proud to have the support of a mayor fighting every day to improve the lives of New Yorkers.

As if Italian Americans only support leftists. What about Antonin Scalia, one of the greatest justices of the Supreme Court EVER, as well as one of the most conservative? Alito is pretty good too.

I guess people also haven't heard of Giuliani, or all the other Italian-Americans who surround Trump, including one of his lawyers at the Senate Trial. Of course, the latter makes sense: Trump is a New Yorker. We're a strong presence in the Metropolitan area and he's been around Italian Americans all his life. Obviously, some are going to wind up being friends and allies.

For the record, De Blasio is half Italian, having taken his mother's surname when his worthless father left him. He's also, in my opinion, and I interact constantly with the city, one of the worst mayors New York has ever had, almost as bad as Dinkins, when the city was turning into a cesspit. The city is deteriorating under my eyes, with all the petty crime intervening mayors got rid of making an appearance again, infrastructure not being maintained, businesses leaving again because of his insane taxation policies, the police force demoralized because of his lack of support and on and on.

Plus, his woke b.s. is a constant embarrassment, as is his obvious stupidity.

The only reason he's mayor is because of the minority vote. God willing he'll be out next time around, or New York runs the risk of turning into another Detroit. That goes for our mayor, Andrew Cuomo, as well. Mario Cuomo, his father, was also a liberal, but he never believed in the far left woke b.s. that his son espouses. Clearly, the intellectual brilliance got watered down.

If Bernie gets the nomination, I personally can't wait until they start running the ads showing him in Central America supporting the "Revolution", or praising Castro and Communist Cuba, or speaking in front of the radical left groups he loves. That's the problem when you've been a "public servant" for so many years. There's tons of media material. :)

Same goes for that phony Bloomberg. Look at him when they bring up Stop and Frisk and Red-lining. What does he do? Is he honest and does he explain what he did and why for so many years? Of course not. He squirms and lies and finally says "Forgive me, I was so wrong". What a disgusting display of cowardice and lack of convictions. He'll say anything to get elected.

I don't know which one I dislike more.

At least I got one present this week: Elizabeth Warren is going bye-bye. Another phoney.

Hahah I see the mud-throwing campaign machine is already running over times....

I can rationalize that Bernie is too "niche" for the US and in the crucial swing states he is not going get support of the older -not sure rep or democrats- voters....ok all right that's cool calculation.

But don't underestimate Bernie, you may dislike his policy.....but I think he is going to make his opponents in the Democratic Party and eventually Trump very tough.

Because Bernie Sanders is authentic, he has a very clear "why " that transcends it's own ego; he is grassroots, not a man where you can expect dirty stories, no machinations like is associated with the Capitol Hill etc etc. People can feel that by intuition.

So no Slikky Willy ruled by the opinion poles and speaking like a script talking head....no deplorable speeches like Clinton, because his commitment is always been there, and what he says he is convinced of. And that makes him hard to get! Mark my words.....

If it's enough to resist the "red scarce" and the mud campaign, we will see!

Congrat. Salento, I must admit you 've got sense of humor!

The reality is even worse than the stereotype! ROFLOL.

Quote from Tim Maia, a black Brazilian singer, already deceased, about Brazil:

“This country cannot work. Here, prostitutes fall in love, pimps are jealous, drug dealers become addicted and the poor are on the right.”

Mud is in the eye of the beholder; they throw mud at my candidate, we tell the truth about theirs.

And yes, Bernie is doing well because he's authentic, but also because he stands for something. It's not something I support, but he doesn't lie like Warren, deny or apologize for his former positions like Bloomberg, or obfuscate like Buttigieg (that man can talk longer while saying nothing . . .). And, like Trump, he challenges the current (fixed?) system of job-seeking politicians who seem concerned only with keeping their personal gravy train going (i.e. Biden).

I don't believe Bernie transcends his ego. No person who claims he's the best candidate to be President (in a country of over 300 million!) is anything but driven by his ego. I also don't think he stands a chance in the general election. Socialism has never had a hold in this country, not even during the Depression, and in the current economy I doubt the voters will be looking to dramatically transform the country as Sanders appears to want to do. This country tends towards incrementalism. It's safe and doesn't threaten all the good things we already have.

As for Trump, like many Americans I don't like the man himself (he's a blowhard, a bully, and know-it-all), but I like that he has kept the promises he made on the campaign trail (mostly) and I like what he has accomplished on the economy, the border, and our relations with NATO, the Middle East and China. Now, if he'd just stop tweeting . . .

hahah indeed....but that's his toy....and a way to send his messages in the world.... I don't think he throws it away!

Mind you I'm from oversea sisshem so no real candidate in the race. I find it rather interesting that someone who is sort of ideological related can have a chance to be the nominee of the Democrats. But let's see of the powers that be will prevent this or not.

He reminds me very much of on old Dutch prime minister Joop Den Uyl, the same drive, but oh so serious! It's like if the problems of the world is on their shoulders....like a task.

But anyhow it keeps surprising me that you see the disadvantages of Trump, but keep a kind of a-moral stance (Angela spoke already in the same way), like in a saying: 'if the cat is black or white doesn't matter if he catches mice it's ok... ' By the way this is from Mao, you wouldn't lik to end up like a Maoist don't you:grin:

uncomfortable tweets? ... swamp (old status quo) outrage? lol

I wish all the Candidates were that transparent expressing real unfiltered thoughts/positions!

nobody reads lame scripted tweets.

Amoral? Well, I don't know about that, but we tried a morally-preening President with Carter and what we got was chaos and incompetence. As I remember the Europeans disliked him as much as any other of our Presidents. You just can't win I guess.

I don't have to like a leader as long as he accomplishes the things I want him to accomplish, see above. So far Trump has and unless the Democrats field a serious candidate that isn't closer to Mao than I am (you see, I don't intend to end up like a Maoist), I'm voting for him. My Navy experience tells me that it's better to have a right bastard in charge who can lead than a nice guy who just means well.

And I do know why Trump uses tweets, it is the only direct unmediated line he has to the people (and it drives his opponents and the media crazy, but I repeat myself). It's not unlike Roosevelt's fireside chats on the radio.
